Tried to get me to pay a debt that was 10 years old, Someone named Tamika Sheppard. They gather old debts and pay practically nothing then try to guilt and threaten you into paying.

Illegal Debt collection. Threatens you.

"Miss Sheppard" called my girl friend and informed her that a law suit was going to be filed against me.  When I called, Miss Sheppard informed me of an alleged 2003 unpaid credit card with Sears with an accumulated balance of $4,400.  Her script includes very threatening and intimidating language.  She knew my social security number, current address and other personal information.  She threatened to file with the county court unless I allowed her to help "reduce" what I owed by paying her $1,000 immediately.  She was also going to send me some papers to reinforce her position.  The statute of limitations for such debt is, I believe, 6 or 7 years.  I had no recollection of such an account so told her to send it to court and I would take my chances.  These people sound very threatening, so stay strong.  If you receive such a call and have any doubts, contact a lawyer for advise so he can tell you there's nothing to worry about.  I don't know whether this type of action is illegal or not, but either way, if the statute of limitations has expired - hang up!  Remember an ancient slogan - "Non illegitimus carborundum es" (Don't let the [***] grind you down).
