I have several of these calls each day on the caller ID, I picked up once and just got static and someone speaking in the background but cannot make out what they are saying.  Is there any way to stop this?  It is very irritating when the call comes so many times a day.

Thought putting my name on do not call list ment all junk telemarketers. If you can't speak ENGLISH definetly don't call my phones.

have received several calls from this number. When my answering machine answers I can hear men talking in another language in the background. they never leave a message.

I received the call from 1-500-500-5000 this morning and it came up on caller ID as a Personal Call. Clearly, these people are sneaky and I would like to see them go away.

I received a call from this guys, they ask for me in spanish (I'm Hispanic) before they start I told them to take me out from their telemarketing list, the guy with Peruvian accent told me "what are you talking about, what marketing?", "I'm calling because you have a debt with us for 50grand, you haven't paid to us so we are going to impound your goods", he told me I signed a contract with "them", no company name, and I haven't paid... I asked him which bank or institution was and the guy answered me "you signed a contract and you don't know with who?", finally he told me before he hang up that in the next hours they will come to my property to impound my goods.
What freak me out is that this losers have my name, my phone and my old address. I don't reside anymore in the States, but I have a VOIP line with a number in the States. Anyway they can't impound anything I'm far far away!!!!
I'm filing a complaint the FTC has to do something, I agree if every time someone calls from one of these companies we complaint to the FTC, the will get tired of us and would do something. If they call you, answer in english this losers don't know English and they freak out!!!

I know who they are.  Unfortunately I found out only after they ripped me off.  The called me, talked to me in Spanish and asked me if I wanted a free calling card.  I accepted it to find out who they were, and I never got the card.  3 months later, I noticed a charge on my Verizon bill from a company I didn't know.  Verizon informed me that they were my long distance carrier.  When I investigated, I got a phone number for the that company and I called to ask them how they became my long distance carrier and they said I authorized it.  They played back a recording that they made when asking me if my address was correct so they could send me the card.  I recognized the call, except that instead of the woman asking me if I wanted a free calling card, in the recording she asked me if I authorized them to become my long distance carriers!  They doctored to tape so that it sounded like I WANTED their services.  I have contacted the FCC and the PUC and I doubt anything will be done.  They screwed me for 3 months and will probably continue to screw me since we're nothing but little people in this big world of crooks.  I will be more than willing to join anyone that wants to go after these bastards.  They are:
