I know you have reported a lot of these scammers but do you know if CL are doing anything about it? I assume you have reported them to Craig's list.  I'm just interested after seeing your many posts.

CL isn't doing much about it beside suggesting that users flag the scam ads (by clicking "prohibited" at the top of the post).  Their staff is just too small to deal with all the issues.

Shamkilla, How do you KNOW they are a scammer?  There is a posting of an RV on craigslist with this # on the photo... but how do you KNOW it's fake?  You, Shamkilla, are posting this message on every website doing reverse # look up. (I understand the reasoning behind doing that - BUT you should give some type proof of how you know this to be a fake listing on craigslist - to help others believe YOU.

If people choose not to believe me than that is their problem - it's not up to me to give proof...the warning should suffice.

    Nice try, impostor.
Here's how you can spot a fake RV seller on craigslist:
-The number is out of the area or out of state.
-The number is printed on the photo of the RV - and it's not the number of an established RV dealer.
    - There is random punctuation in the subject line (for example: "[[]]✰[[]]1997[[]]✰[[]] Coachmen Mirada 300QB[[]]✰[[]]" or "  l989 C0ach m e n Cat@1ina  ") or alternating capital/lowercase ("1992 AiRsTrEaM ExCeLlA").  The scammers do this to evade craigslist's spam filters, since they post in many cities at once.  Legitimate sellers don't usually do this.
    - The price is too low or unrealistic (for instance, $2000 for an RV less than 10 years old).
    - They want you to text instead of call.
    - They want you to use eBay, Paypal, Amazon or iTunes.  Or they will send a link to a fake Paypal or eBay page.

Bottom line: NEVER pay for a vehicle you cannot see and inspect in person (RV, car, truck, camper, boat, motorcycle)!

These scams are targeting senior citizens and retirees - the primary market for RVs.  Keep up the good fight.

Skamkilla, thank you for posting this.  I told my spouse that the add looked fake.  Especially when I saw the way the phone number was spelled out (and spelled out poorly) at the bottom.  Sure sign of adds written in non-English speaking countries.

You're welcome.  I've seen too many of the fake ads and know how to spot them.

Also, if they mention a "mover" or "shipper," they're likely to be scammers.  As I wrote above, if you can't see the RV in person, don't pay!
