Female caller with foreign accent, Claims to be calling from U.S. Dept of Treasury Legal Affairs

Just got one on tge answering machine, too.  Original call was from Sarah Johnson.  It was too garbled to make out the organization.  Called and spoke with Tom Cooper, who said he was with what sounded to be GS Registry and then said his badge number was 6892.  I asked and he said that he was an offficer of the law.  Hearing that, I asked him to repeat his organization and through an angry coversation we came to US Treasury Office of Legal Affairs.  Then he hung up on me.  Called back, same guy.  Asked to talk to a supervisor; he refused and hung up in me again.

I received a phone call stating the US Treasury indicating they were calling to collect a debt on behalf of the IRS.  If I didn't comply they were going to start legal proceedings against my husband and myself. It was a scam.  They could not provide a contact with the IRS or phone number.

Just got a call from this number. The lady, who sounded foreign, said she was from the Department of Legal Affairs at the US Treasury. I was taking the message for someone else, and the lady said to call back because it was "urgent." No doubt this is just a scam. They just want your money.

Got a message from this number.
A woman with a forign accent.  It was hard to make out but it was something about legal affairs. She gave a number that was not the one that called. She suggested I have my attorney call.
The Caller ID said West Linn, OR.  The number she gave has a Mass. Area code.

I received the same call this is not the us dept of anything. Don't call the number back.

Do not listen to anything these people say. I got a call from Sean Platt on my voice message machine, it was a foreign accent and I didn't understand him. He said there was an arrest warrant after me, because of taxes I from 2009. Taxes which have been paid. He then started to get angry with me and I hung up. I called the LAPD, and they said this is a scam. They are trying to get money from you. Do not send money.

A woman with a strong accent (either Southern or foreign) left a message on the answering machine while I was at work.  Said it was about "an enforcement action" that was being started against me.  She wished me good luck at the end.  She did not leave her name, just that she was calling from the "Department of Legal Affairs of the U. S. Treasury."  I'm pretty sure this is a scam.

I recieved a call about my 2009 taxes not being filed correctly and that an arrest warrant was being issued. Has to be a scam I have been disabled since 2007 and did not work in '09

I too received a call from a Sarah Johnson about an xxxx (word not identifiable even after listening to the message 10 times) income tax.  She said she was from the Department of Legal Affairs US Treasury.  This was a verbal notification that my name was on a list of those whom the agency was going to seek legal enforcement action.   Again, the call back number is 503-882-6790.  There were lots of people in the back ground.   Sounds a lot like when I call IT at work, which has been outsourced outside the U.S.  Sad.

Just got another call on "behalf of Sarah Johnson" at 6:10am this morning.  That call was from 876-420-1518.  It was a guy this time.  I hung up.  Immediately, someone called me back again, with a different man's voice and they were a bit more "hesitant" to answer.

The 876-420-1518 is found on the internet at the following:  www.girlsfreegame.com, www.facebook.com, www.classmates.com, www.wlovefitness.com.   Hmmm?  Sarah Johnson's friends get around.

Just received a voice mail saying there was an enforcement against us and we needed to call back ASAP. Like others message garbled, foreign accent and mildly threatening.  This is a scam.  Thank you for the link to the IRS scam website. Very helpful. See reporting below.

Thank you for fthe comments. Just a moment ago got a call from this same number with name Sarah Johnson form Treasury Department claiming we have not responded to certified letter sent (false). She claim was it ws urgent legal matter for my wife. Very suspicious the Treasury Department to call you. This is the second call I got today, 1 from 1-888-540-9844 from United Helathcare (turned to be legit) but I had to call United Helathcare because it is unusual for this provided to ask for your date of birth overr the phone. Just hang up!
I also received calls claiming to be from the US goverment IRS to return $9,000 in from a mistake, please provide your bank account to deposit. I was direct and told them Thank You - just send the check over the mail you should have my address (ask to tell you the address). They hang up!

"Sarah Johnson" has been busy today.  You could tell she was in a call center from the background noise.  My "Sarah" had a pronounced Indian accent, and I still couldn't figure out what she wanted other than to call her back.  Or to have my attorney call before legal proceedings began, or I could be in trouble for something that wasn't clear in the message.  At least she was polite, and even said "God Bless" at the end.

Same number just called me.  Indian guy.  I hung up pretty fast saying I'd call the cops.  HE called ME back and said he was sending cops to arrest me.  He had my name home phone and OLD address idoit.

Just found a messages From I guest same  Sara Johnson  saying she was from the Department of Legal Affairs US Treasury and had a very important document that concern me and I need to call her back with an attorney.

I just got a message left on my answering machine and when I called it back it sounded like a lady fro India who was so hard to understand I am contacting the real us treasure with this info
