guy named jon calls from 510.423.9026. major jerk.

lady named karol, calling about insurance claims

Several calls from same number but does not leave any message. When I call the number I get a message saying that this number is disconnect (no longer in service).

I allways get calls from that number too. I am from Montreal and don't know that area code : 510.

Could anyone tell me where it's from?

This number is some sort of carrier number. We get calls from it at work all the time. I have a customer that uses it & they are from Texas.

this number tried telling me that they were going to sue me!!! haha what a joke.....i talked to one of the "attorneys" there and they said that they would not give me their "bar" number.....this place is a scam do not even call them back!!!!!

Short Answer:
This number belongs to a phone carrier (not one single company). Any specific comments that you read here can be describing calls from any one of thousands of companies that are using this same carrier. This number typically shows up on caller id when a company has a misconfiguration in their phone system and it projects the wrong caller id to call recipient.

The Really Long Answer:
I was testing our company's phone system and when I called my cell phone it showed the number 510-423-9026. I did not see this number in our company's list of numbers that we own so I was a little confused at first. As it turns out, after a power outage one of the files on our phone system got corrupted (this is the file that tells the phone system which caller id number you want to project to the call recipient). As it turns out, 510-423-9026 was one of our carrier's phone numbers (http://bandwidth.com/)


You see, on many modern telephone systems you are able to project any number that you want when you make a call to someone. For example, if I knew your mobile number and your wife's mobile number, I could call her and make her think that it was you calling. This is called "spoofing" someone's caller id. Imagine the possibilities.

Some sneaky things you can do? If you call someone with an ATT account and an iPhone and 'spoof' their caller id number, chances are that you can listen to all of their messages, change their greeting...and even change their password.

While it is illegal to spoof someone's number, it does not prevent unethical people from doing it.

This number does not belong to a single company so you can ignore any specific comments about who this is. Yes, it can be a debt collector, but it's not necessarily a debt collector. This number just showed up as my number when I called my wife from my office. It was because a file on our phone server got screwed up after a power outage. The number belongs to a phone carrier, not the company that is calling you. Probably bandwidth.com, our company's phone provider.

i called paypal customer service today and this phone number was somehow attached to my paypal account earlier today if i hadnt had a problem recieving a payment from an ebay sale who knows what woulda happened

you should report this number to the F.B.I if you are called.  All of the above is correct, and it is a dangerous scam for your money.  It has made its way into my social security account as my phone number, and i have been sued for social security pension moneys 4 times and won 4 times.  It made its way into my student loan papers and I am now being sued a third time, I lost $13,000 in repaid funds the first time, and this time being sued for $72,000 in unpaid loans which I never took out from a company I never signed with.  I have won all cases so far, but the moneys are gone.  that's 7 years of my time because of this scam, that's a lot for a 60+ year old.  The only recourse otherwise is when they are caught by the F.B.I. and jailed.  It is apparently a drug dealing scam.

This number is a scam company... report it to the FBI and put a alert on you credit report.

I just received a call from lady at this number which says impact telecom.
she pretended to be a home buyer and her name was Lisa.  She gave me her phone number
which actually was another of my phone numbers.  I told her she was giving me my number and then she hung up. She must be dumb as well as a scammer!
