Some man called me at my office this morning to tell me I have a lawsuit against me but when I questioned him, he referred me to this number.  I called them and they tried to read me some BS affadavit about the US government having three criminal allegations against me and one of them was for a payday loan which I never received.  The thing that pisses me off is that they called me at work (NO ONE has this number) and that they had the last four of my SSN as well as my email address.  It was obviously a scam because when I tried to ask them questions, they hung up.

WTF! I get a phone call at 6:30 this morining from this guy I call them back at 9 and it's a different guy with a really bad accent I can't understand a word he's saying. They have my name, address, phone numbers, and last four digits of my SSN. Apparently a payday loan has filed a law suit against me and the investigation team will be out Friday of this week to serve papers, take me to jail, and won't be able to get any loans or financial help for 3 years. I haven't gotten any payday loans, and even called my bank to make sure. Of course, he asked me why I would just take their money, but when I started asking questions he got an attitude with me. He didn't even know when I supposedly got the money from the advance...just the last time they "tried to requwest payment from me" which was in January! I contacted the company that "filed the law suit" and they haven't answered any of my questions. When the "law office" said the investigation team would be out I said ok and my lawyer would be in contact with him....he hung up. JW why would an investgation team come to investigate money not repaid and/or arrest me? Isn't that a police/sheriff job?

Haha my friend is a lawyer. I got her to call them and all they wanted was a fax number so they could fax my info. She gave it to them then went off cussin them for everything they're not worth. They hung up on her and never faxed anything. Csller ID and number search said it was located in Oakland CA so she called someone she knows up there to look into it. She was p*ssed....I think more than I was.

I have received the same information all the others before have. A strong middle eastern man who says he is a paralegal and he has a case on me with a payday loan. When ask for the case number and the law firm, the man told me "no he works for alone." I asked for the company name he state the Federal Legislation of Customer Affairs and Business Regulations. When trying to get address and any other information I was unable. I feel uncomfortable that my information is out there and some one thinks that they have a right to harass people and make them reshape their lives. No one is safe anymore and these criminals need to be stop.

I checked my vm today and I have two messages from Marvin Smith (american name indian accent ?!?) Stating if I or my attorney didnt call him back he feels sorry for what is about to happen to me.  So I called back they stated the same as most of the comments.  Consumer Regulations dept, he is a paralegal, I have criminal charges, my personal information.  So when I question the douchbag about the case number the address etc he says see you in court and hangs up.  So I call back and Adam Ross (american name indian accent) answers and I ask one question he hangs up.  So I call back again and speak to I dont know his name and he says oh i will research this and call you back.
i was so heated.  i look the number up and there is  no info....

On March 8, 2011 I received a phone call from my place of work and they told me this man, "Marvin Smith" has left several massages concerning a payday loan. Marvin left a massage saying I better have a good lawyer.  I called this number 510-544-0202, which I googled and it said it was from Oakland, CA.  Marvin proceeded to tell me that I am being sued by a Payday loan source.  He said he was calling from a lawyers office and that I needed to be in court this Friday March 11, 2011 in California, I told him sorry but no-can-do I live in Indiana and he said it was my problem not his.  This is a SCAM plan and simple.  Marvin said I had received an internet loan and did not pay it back and when I asked him how much was deposited into my checking account he could not give me an amount or the transaction number or date.  When I said to him that I was going to get bank statements showing proof that I did not receive any deposits from this Payday loan he wished me a good day and hung up on me.  What scare me is that he has my social security number!!!  I did alert my bank, employment and Experian credit about this.  What else should or can I do about this? If you go to Payday scams on the internet it will show you comments from other people who were scamed about this.  Thanks

Thanks,  I received a letter from Experian ( one of the 3 major credit report companies) and they put a fraud alert on my SS# and also put a stop to soliciting mail for 3 months.  Hope it's not to late.  Have not heard from them since last Tuesday.  Sounds like this scam has been going on for a long time dating back to 2007.  These sorry excuse for people don't even live in the US, some how they stole phone numbers from other companies and are using them as fronts.  Why hasn't the FBI stopped them?

    WHAT THE HECK !!
I got a phone call from this number too. Talked  to a David Cooper, a paralegal (yeah, right) , if that's his real name.  Saying I owe money from back in December.  Said they would be at my place of work on Thursday to serve papers.  That I got a payday loan under fraud. I asked them who's it with, how much, when was it supposed to have happened, etc.  Says he doesn't have that info.  This is really scary. I did have an an old payday loan and I contacted them to make sure everything was ok. They suggested I contact the police department and to document everything.  He believes it's a scam and they have heard of this going on from others. He said they play on your fears and doubt they will send anyone out to my place of work. The scam company may try to "settle out of court" and get you to pay.  Told me to watch my bank account closely and may even have to close it and get a new one.  Could this be identity thert.

This has happened to me today.  Threatened to come to my place of work.  Wouldn't give me any info as to what, where when, etc.  Did give me an amount I supposedly owed.  Some has suggested I report it to the police department.  Think I will.  Wish I had a lawyer friend.

Don't give in all they want is for you to wire them money that you don't owe.  Put an alert on your SS # and close your checking account and open a new one.  That is what I've done so far.  Do not give them any more info that they already have.
