Received a call from this number several times. Called it back. It is in fact the UC Alumni Association. They are updating their records and asking for Alumni support for this year's Annual Fund.

This call comes from the UC Telefund. They are simply looking for donations to the annual fund.

Just got a call from them. It seems like they always call on Sunday.

I understand the reason they call frequently--my husband and I are both University of Cincinnati alumni--I simply wish they would leave a message! It's frustrating to be living out-of-state and come home to several 'missed calls' from this number. I've tried calling back, but I've yet to get an answer. It's also a bit unnerving to recognize the area code as my hometown code, yet not know who or why someone from my hometown is calling! As I said before, a 'canned' message left on my answering machine would allay fears and concerns! ;-)

I agree with other alumni that it would alleviate concerns re an unknown phone number.  Strange thing was I answered the phone, the gentleman asked for me and when I identified myself he hung up (OR we were disconnected).  Maybe he was embarrassed that he mispronounced my name, bit I still did not know who called at that point.

They called me asking for my parents, which I guess is legit, but they refused to tell me who they were or why they were calling.

I don't think this call is authentic. Seems like the caller wanted to get my personla information. I asked him to send me an email and I would respond. Not yet heard back from them.

Thanks for the info, all.  We, as well, are out of state.  My son is currently at UC.  He usually will call from his cell, obviously, so when I see a 513 area code, the heart rate jumps a tad (why is someone ELSE calling?).  But alas...my wife is a UC grad so perhaps it is the alumni org.

Yep. This number is the UC Telefund. I actually worked there a couple decades ago on the ongoing fundraising efforts. The goal is to call in the evenings before 9 local time. While the goal is fundraising, the caller is also supposed to be prepared to answer questions about news and programs at the university. Everyone there was a student(back in the Dark Ages when I was there).

The limit on my telephone for blocking numbers is 30. Due to these people I've reached that limit and have deleted all the numbers on my call blocking list and have added only this universities numbers. The caller ID is always the same. Cincinnati, OH. 513-556-2311, 513-556-0840, 513-556-2312, 513-556-2310, 513-556-5140, 513-556-5099, 513-556-5095, 513-556-5142, 513-556-1472, 513-556-5085, 513-556-6211,....They call every day and when blocked call back within 10 minutes. They never leave a message and I once answered without saying anything and they hung up. It's a live person as opposed to a recorded message. A lot of recorded messages are set to start the message when you say "hello". No one spoke,...but I could hear them breathing. Prank calls from a state university. Who'd a thunk it.

What I've read on other reverse lookup sites is that this is the University of Cincinnati. The man that agreed to take the health survey had to stop taking the survey because it started to get "detailed" and "too personal." He asked them to add him to their do not call list but didn't know if they would honor that or not. I'm a strong believer in not answering for unknown numbers. If you answer for unknown numbers your name goes on a list as a "live one" and will be sold to every telemarketer and surveyor out there. Besides copying and pasting this message to every number I've blocked, I plan to report them to the FCC here: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints

These messages all mention UC alums. I never even applied to this school (ages ago), and just now have begun receiving calls from them almost daily. Wanted to make it stop so answered but got the telltale "someone else on my dialing-cycle answered before you did" disconnect click.

I am not, nor have ever had any association with the University of Cincinnati...So whoever is calling from this number (I don't answer calls I don't recognize), might not be a legitimate UC Fund person!

UC Alumni folks asking for money. But pls leave a message. Just the # shows up on the screen and it's too weird wondering who it is, bc they won't leave a message. I'm glad for this site. Also, I finally answered, and the guy hung up on me. I would have been even more uncomfortable if I hadn't have found this site. Not in the mood to give $$ now!

Have had several calls from this number and in every instance the person on the other end hangs up as soon as I say hello. No idea who this is; if they are legit, they seem unable to conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Strange, I keep getting calls from this number and have never attended UC and I've had this number for over 17 years.

Recently I started getting calls from this number..
but dont know who it is..
I answered d call in the first ring or two and they cut the call..
When i call back, it rings and finally it says the voice mail is full.

They also call during different times of the day. Once in the afternoon, once at 6 PM and once at 7  PM and recently I have been getting the calls. I am a UC student too.. I am wondering if it has something to do with it.. but why would they call during off hours?

It is legit. My son works there. They are required to update your personal information and then ask for a donations for this year. I don't know why they can't leave a message, but I will inquire and post what I learn. Please don't disregard this call, times are hard all over, but it's important to continue support the University of Cincinnati!

I got the call and answered it.  The person wanted to "verify my information".  I refused to give them any information and hung up on them.  They have been calling me ever since.  They need a better strategy.  I don't know how they even got my number, it has been over 10 years since I graduated.

All 513-556-**** phone numbers belong to The University of Cincinnati.   If you're not a student, it's probably the Alumni Association.   Just a FYI to people who have no idea who it is, or the over-worrying parent(s) who thinks every unknown phone number is the Police Department calling about their kid [Scott from above ;-) ].
