This a call identifying themselves as "Walgreens"  and they are soliticiting .  They want you to supply your claim and insurance numbers so they can bill Medicare and send you a new meter.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY NUMBERS.  If you so do you are risking they will use your number for their own purposes.  I cannot believe that Walgreen's needs to stoop to telemarketing.  I am going to look into this further.

Ths is for the person that says they work for walgreens.
If you are working for walgreens then let me tell you that I do not have diabetes, I never answer my phone unless I know who is calling and I don't appreciate anyone calling and not leaving a short
message concerning what the call is about.

I answer the phone, and there is no one on the other line.  I called back today, and yes, it is Walgreens.  I told them to remove the number from their auto dialer.

In reply to 'really'.  You miss the point.  Where are Walgreen's telemarketers getting the private medical information they use to sell you anything!  Pharmacies who pass out this database information are in violation of the HIPPA agreement.  It is outrageous to learn our private medical info is being passed out for anyone to for profit.

I already have a diabetic supplier selected by my doctor.  I prefer to get my RX locally at Walgreens.  I don't like it when companies use misleading tactics to sell things.  Another pet peeve is Woman's Day Magazine.

We got a call this afternoon. My husband answered and said he knew it was from Walgreens but couldn't hear the caller very well at all. Not knowing the content of the call he hung up. I think the one thing is that most senior citizens who are diabetic are pretty much set up through Liberty Medical or one of those places. In his case he just got a new meter. No problem with getting the call accept that we get so many it can be trying to figure out who to give numbers to and who not to. We LOVE Walgreens, the store, the people, the service...the best!! I am pleased that you took the time to reply =) Thank you.

It's walgreens, but when I called back, they were looking for someone else I guess and I had them take my number off. They asked my name but I refused to give it including informing them that the calls were annoying, I never filled there, and I *work* for a competing pharmacy (who doesn't harass customers like that).

Don't call me and ask for numbers that you already have.  HIPPA be damned.  Nobody is trustworthy just because they say they are.  Grow up.  Trusting someone who says they can be trusted is foolish on the surface.  It's more than foolish if you even have half a brain.  In this world where there is rampant ID theft, it pays to avoid answering unknown numbers.  It is what it is.  Unsavory telemarketers have made it that way.  We have to live with it.  Jokers like YOU just have to understand our fears.  Again, grow up.
