FYI- The do not call list is a joke;it took telemarketers less than an hour to figure out a work-around. This is how it works:
If I have a company that plans to do telemarketing, and I compile a list of numbers to contact, I am required to check with the list of people who have requested that they not be called (the Do-Not-Call-List), BUT
If I do not bother to make a list, and just let the automated (computer driven) phone system dial every possible number between 000-000-0000 and 999-999-9999, then I have broken no rules/laws.
The computer dials a number of calls per second, and automatically stacks any live call (someone answers the phone) in the queue. That is why you answer the phone to "dead air" so often these days. The dialer got ahead of the message system and it isn't ready for you yet. - Joshjust called me about an hour ago glad i didn't answer.
- dCalled me at 4:08pm eastern standard time. How can I block future calls from numbers like these?
