This is coming from a Phone bank (soliciting company) in Lansing.  This company is hired by various groups to solicit donations.  It's been my experience in the past that very little if any money actually goes to the charity they claim to be working for.  I'd suggest to hang up on them.  Heads up they call from various 517 area code numbers but all seem to have the 679 prefix.
It appears if you don't answer it, you'll be put back in the loop faster.  So just answer and hang up.

0758 and 0754 are the numbers constantly calling me....last night and tonight 45 minutes apart.  Now that I read this, I will just answer and hang up.  Thanks for the bit of advice!  I'll see if it helps.  I don't know how I got on all of these phone lists, but it's really irritating me how many phone calls I get now that avoid the DNC List's rules....I don't answer over half my phone calls, and am so close to dropping my landline!!!

Me too. Three times last night from Lansing, MI, once this morning from Utica, MI. Different numbers, I called both back and it's the same company, got a recording, yeah, it's one of those charity telemarketing services. They claim they are non-profit and aren't included in the national no-call list. The recording gave me the option of having my number removed from their list (press 1) I did and a recorded voice said I would be removed.

Female voice asked for us by family name ("Is this the 'Smith' residence?").  Didn't recognize number, so said, "No, sorry, you have the wrong number".  Lie to them!  It is not illegal!  Suggest we all do it more.  It is not a lottery calling to say we won.  If it's some legal stuff, they will send it in writing, anyway. TELEMARKETERS, SCAMMERS, BIG BUSINESS, TELEVISION, AND POLITICIANS TAKE NOTE:  We know you are all lying to us.  We will start doing the same back to you.  So there.

What a bother.This scam operation must be huge.I get these calls quite frequently over the last year and am several hundred miles from MI. Can not believe that they have any success but they must because the calls usually hang u pafter four rings they are putting in long hours or have significant staff. Makes no sense because they never leave a message or answer

Someone called from that number on Saturday about a donation.  I asked him to take me off their list and he said, "do me a favor and [***]." True story.  Going to file a complaint, but figured you'd all want a laugh.

They called twice tonight, seems I went through a rash of their calls twice this year already.  IF you get them on the phone and tell them to quit calling me, they tell you "ma'am, I have never called you before."  I filed a complaint with the FCC about this numberas they were representing themselves as different charities every time they called, but I could not find the names of the charities they were claiming to be anywhere on the internet.  My feeling is they are representing themselves as a charity, any charity, and stealing money.  They actually hung up on my husband one time.  They call at exact times 3 times per day 7 days a week.  We all wait for the phone to ring to try to catch someone on the line to tell them to take our name off their list.  It took 3 times of telling them and a report to the FCC to get them to stop calling my house for about 3 months.  I figure if they are scammers, they wouldn't take your name off their list anyway.  NEXT TIME, answer the phone and just tell them that you have reported that number to the FCC.  Chances are that's the last time you will hear from them.

We just got this call and the person on the other end said they needed some water. When asked who it was, they didn't really say because they were mumbling and seriously sounded drunk.

3 calls in 5 days...............first 2 times asked not to be called again. 3rd time, I again demanded not to be called and resorted to some obscene name calling...................and indicated I would be filing with the Fcc...................no calls in 2 days now.  Hopeful.

Have you ever filed with the FCC on one of the many ' charity ' telemarketers.  The FCC does nothing, they reply in writing with findings of no wrong doing.

I got a call from this number they wanted to speak to the lady of the house, me, I said no, so the woman on the phone swore at me in very vile language.  That's what I would expect of that type of woman...idiot.

I just got a call from this number. I didn't answer it but did just call it back after reading the comments here. The voicemail message indicated that they were calling about a charitable contribution and that charities were exempt from the government "do not call" list. The message said that if you would like to be put on their own "do not call" list to press 1 and then enter your number, otherwise you could leave a message. I pressed 1 and entered my number but I don't trust it at all. If they call again I'm going to answer.

When I said "Pleae remove me from your calling list" Sher replied in mocking tone "Please don't answer your phone" Huh?

I just got a call from 517-679-0754. I didn't answer, but listened for them to leave a message on my answering machine. I don't know if this is their message, or if they were just talking to someone else that was working there, but she said, "Our love is go-oo-od. I'm just sittin' here makin' lo-o-ove to myself." Sick.

Our phone rang but we didn't answer it.  Our machine picked it up and all we heard was someone talking in a low voice and every once in a while we could make out a swear word.

I called the number back, got a recording justifying their right to call on behalf of 'charities'. Then an option to have our number deleted from their list by pressing '1', then enter home phone #. We'll see if they stop calling, or just start calling from another number!

I tried the removal process a week ago. Today they called again (Sunday AM!!) So much for that idea. How do these people manage to make any money?
