- Dingo1106am Eastern 14May 2015: "Dominic" from the "Medicare Health Line" called from 540-908-4369
I told him straight away that this number is on the Do Not Call list. He stated that didn't matter because "he wasn't selling anything, just awareness of Medicare options"......
He then went on to state that he could "source Medicare funded medical items such as back braces at no cost to me" (but at cost to Medicare, which as a tax payer I pay for) - "it would be covered by Medicare and he could work with my doctor to achieve this"..... So he is selling something - besides, DO NOT CALL has a much wider definition than "selling" - it means DO NOT CALL and the phrase "It also includes sellers who provide, offer to provide, or arrange to provide goods or services to consumers in exchange for payment" is right there on the FCC website. So go tell your phoney justification to a judge or the FCC.
I told him to remove me from his list and NEVER call me again - in reality, just picking up the phone, which I have to do for work, means that he's already listed it as live and sold my number to the next spammer. Sigh. This is why consumers need more protection than what we have today.
I really wish the FCC would get some teeth and take action against these folks - I report EVERY spam event I can now and it's been years, why are we still in 2015 and this is still going on? It's definitely NOT slowing down... if anything it's increasing.
I truly wish the FCC was even more strict with the exception of public safety / civic announcements - as in I don't want to hear from political organizations, charities, or telephone surveyors - I pay for my phone, I already have my charities, I already listen to the media and I truly don't give a flying cahoot about telephone surveyors' needs. So put them all on the DNC list. Find some other way to get your needs met.
