Got a call from this number asking to support Fresno State Business School Fund. Refused to give out info...Caller hung-up without saying anything.....

Looks like a Caller ID Scam....

Received call from this number at 11:00 pm one night and have received numerous other calls where no one says anything.

I called this number and it is suppose to be from Fresno state. I don't think that it is.

They called me on my cell and asked to speak to my parents.. WTF!?? When I said that my parents aren't available (because this is my cell phone), they said 'Ok, I'll call back at a later time.' It sounds like someone might be trying to scam money out of our parents by asking for donations.

And before she hung up she asked me, "also, just want to make sure you are a fresno state student right?" I said yea and she said, 'ok well I'll try to reach your parents later, bye!" WTF that is suspicious as h3ll

I advertised with The Collegian (Fresno State's newspaper) once and now they call me every year to reopen my account and do advertising with them again. After I didn't answer the phone this time, they sent me an email telling me that they called and I didn't answer. Stalkers.

It's NOT a scam. That number is the default caller id phone number for some departments at Fresno State (for example, some advisors I work with will call me on my cell phone and 559-278-0000 is the caller id number). You can't reach anyone by dialing it. You have to have the direct phone number (if they leave a voicemail, they will usually leave their direct number.) There are other companys that are the same way. I sometimes get calls from Bank of America and their 800 phone number is the caller id and I have to get a direct number to the person who is calling to get back to them.

Hi Everyone! My name is Summer, I'm a senior at CSU Fresno and I work at the Fresno State Call Center.  It is Located on campus in the Keats building (The old Keycard office)  5244 N. Jackson Ave KC45  Fresno, CA 93740-8023 If you have any questions or concerns, the direct number to call the Call Center is  559-278-8797. The reason 5592780000 comes up in caller ID is because it is an automated number that all of Fresno State uses.  If you call any department at Fresno State, the number will be 278-XXXX. We get all of our information from computers, and when we call, it rings 4 times, and then moves onto the next call, so sometimes unfortunately if someone answers on the 4th ring, it may hang up soon after.  We are doing our best to fix any technical problems.  At the call center, only current Fresno State students are employed as callers.  We are highly educated about Fresno State and can usually answer any questions Alumni or Community members may have about where their donations go.  It is also important we call Alumni and Friends of Fresno State to update our records, and Fresno State also likes to know if former students have used their degrees.  Most shifts are Sundays 2-6, and Monday-Thursday 6:30-9.  We NEVER call past 9pm on the west coast, because the computers automatically end the sessions at 9pm.  Sorry for any confusion about these calls but hopefully I have cleared up any questions or concerns you may have about these calls.

They call 2-3 times a week.  I'm an alum of the business school so I assume that's what it's about.  I've answered once or twice and only got hangups.  They've never left a message.  I don't bother answering anymore.  

By calling all the time they pretty much have guaranteed that I won't ever donate anything to them.  Not a good way to develop alumni relations.

Just a follow up, after they called every evening for 10 days straight!  I'd had enough, answered, and there was actually someone on the line.  They asked how I was doing, and I said I was fine but was tired of getting calls from that number every single day.  

They made the business school spiel, I said I wasn't interested and asked to be taken off their list.  Haven't gotten a call since!  It would really be better if they would just mail their alumni instead of calling them.  A lot of us are not working and aren't in a position to donate anything, it's no fun to be getting calls asking for money when you're waiting for calls from potential employers, recruiters, etc.

I've been calls from this number everyday at random times, the call lasts long enough to register as a phone call on my cell, but not long enough for me to be able to answer the phone. Therefore it shows up as a missed call every time. They've called me at least 15 times in the last month. If I call it back I just hear some clicking sounds and that's it. Pretty [***]. Blocking the call doesn't work, it still shows up as a missed call. Why would you call someone and not give them a chance to answer, doesn't make sense.

This is a Fresno state fundraising campaign. I answered the phone and they ask about how your experience was and if you would like to donate money to the Fresno State dept of whatever your degree was in. So most likely anyone getting a call is a Fresno State alumni.

Been getting the same calls. 11p on the East Coast. No message. Just called the number in the trail and they will take me off. Very nice. Let's see if it works.

rec'd 4 calls so far in a wk from 559-278-0000 , no one left a mess. and when I did answer
at 8:04 pm 1/17/12, they hung up..

I have received a phone call everyday at 7pm for the past 2 weeks. They never leave a voicemail and when I do answer they hangup. Please either talk or leave a voicemail. If you are trying to get a donation don't call me every night you're just going to piss me off.

i rarely answer phone calls from numbers i dont recognize, if im expecting a financial aid call or from someone ill look up the number

I have gotten a few calls from this number as well and did not who it was from. I am glad I found this site and will not be picking any of the phone calls from them!

Cell received call from this number, no one responded when I answered phone.
