I had 2 missed calls from this number. When I called back, it says it was a correctional facility and doesn't accept incoming calls. It gave me a different phone number to call, which was Legacy Inmate Communications to set up an account.

When answering, all in Spanish  Repeated calls day and night, we talked to their switchboard and they claimed they would remove our number.  1 week later, it starts again.  IS THIS AN INMATE SCAM TO USE OUR PHONES TO MAKE ILLEGAL CALLS?

from this phone i get call in the middle night ,they just don't have the reason why they are calling for.

Confirmed to be in California and collect call. This is the 2nt time with 2 weeks apart. I don't answer calls I don't know and if its important then I will get the voice message or text anyways. I looked into all my connections and no one I know is calling from there then I found this site for information.

I don't see what an inmate could gain from this but meh, not like I will answer anyways.

Kritter is right.  This number will appear when you receive a call from someone being held at the Fresno County Jail.  : (   Wait for the recording to end and start talking so the person doesn't waste a call.

It's a scam.  They want you to call another number with a code so that other person can use your phone bill to call all over the world for free.  Don't fall for it.

It's an inmate collect calling you from Fresno County Jail. My brother is in there and calls me. Sometimes you can push #1 to pick up and other times you need a credit card to pick up.

called me but i didint understand the name of the person calling from the jail so i just hung up...

This is a scam. they wanted my credit card # to accept the call. Yeah right! I diddn't even understand who was calling me and based on these comments this is a scam

Got voice mail. Like others here, name of the caller was not nearly clear enough to understand. If they really wanted a collect call, they surely would have said their name. I do know people in Fresno. I guess they do this to people with 559 numbers. Anyway, thanks to this site, glad I don't have to worry about peole there.

Scam... why do they need my credit card

Has anyone actually known this to be legit and not a scam? I happen to know someone that could possibly be in jail, and is trying to call to let me know. How do I know what's fake??

It's not a scam. The company is called Legacy Communication systems and they are contracted through the Fresno county jail.  It's a system that let's inmates call you so they can talk to there family/friends. If the inmate is in a holding cell then they just have you push #1 and the call is free, if they have been booked and housed on a floor then the next time they try to call out the system will ask for you to enter a credit card number to pay for the call. The inmate says there name first so if you don't know that person then u don't have to enter your card number nor except the call. Trust me it's not a scam my boyfriend is in there and I use the system everyday.
