keeps calling everyday but never leaves a message.

Just rec'd a call from this number. Caller I'D said "local area call" but we are not in that area code. Machine picked up and caller hung up.

Much the same as above.  When answered, they hang up.  Also said local call even though it is not in my area code.

Just got a call from this number, "LOCAL AREA CALL", but 516 is definitely not local to us. I answered anyway, and they asked for my wife by her first name. I said she wasn't available and asked if I could leave her a message, and the woman said "that's okay, I'll call back later" and hung up.

561-693-4118 ~ didn't leave a message so I returned the call. An automated message Identified them as the State of Florida Association of Police Athletic League for donations.  The message says they WILL call back.

Same as above...caller ID said Local Area Call, but it was not.  Talked with a gentleman who said he was with the Florida Police Athletic League...soliciting donation for some children's program.  He gave their website as www.sfapal.com which shows them as headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. Area 561 I believe is in Boca Raton, not Jacksonville.

The call came in at 11am on Sunday.  How is it that they feel it's OK to call a number registered with the National Do Not Call list and on Sunday???

Just got a call from this number.  It also said "LOCAL AREA CALL".  I live in 561 .. which is Palm Beach County.  I didnt answer since I didnt know who it was.  First off ... if you go to Florida's PAL site .. they are out of Jacksonville (about 5-6 hours north of PBC)  and the phone number on their website is (904) 642-1412.  And .. sorry, if you wanted a donation .. you'd call with the CORRECT number and also have something other than LOCAL AREA CALL on the caller ID.

It's the Florida Association for the Police Athletic League, mystery solved.

We are supposed to be on the Do Not Call list. This number just called our home. I called back from my cell phone, and got an automated message from the State Association for Police Atheletic Leagues, stating fundraising was now under way and they would be calling back, as that was the most cost effective way to reach us. The message also gave another number - 800-299-1895, if we preferred to reach their main office. I do plan to call and find out why they called our home number when we are on the Do Not Call list.

this is a scam they use two different numbers this one and one that ends in 4115.
you can tell its a scam or just a very annoying persistent company because they use numbers to get around do not call lists.
and they also never take no for an answer.

I called this number 800-299-1895 and it is the Florida State PAL Association.  They have a selection to be on their do not call list.  What an obnoxious organization.

thanks john they are annoying they keep calling for my father. I tell them my parents only do charitable donations through the mail they don't care and they call during hrs that are kinda family time or like when the kids are going to sleep as a single mom it is just rude. Thanks for the advice though.

there is a bill now before congress to allow calls to cell phones..... x   call your congressman

thanks for that info. i still find it rude and still wrong to allow people to get local area numbers for this political stuff for in-state i can see but this comes in local area and its not even local.  or they use regular numbers and not 800 numbers to call and never listen to the stop calling warning. they are rude enough to call all hrs of the night when everyone is already asleep and you know noone is at the service to take the call anyway very annoying.

This is a scam.  A black guy in Davie, Florida called.   He said they were taking donations for the police athletic league.  These groups take in donations and barely donate anything.  They are being investigated for fraud.  He wouldn't give me an answer when I asked for his address or how the money is divided up.  He got nervous when I mentioned the FBI.

Calls every day, never leaves a message

I receive several calls from the number listed above and it disconnects after a few rings. I would like this to stop.

I picked it up and answered it this time..."Johnathan" from the Police Athletic League.  561 is NOT our local area code - it shows up on caller ID as a "local number".  Scam?

561-693-4118  supposed to be a PAL charity call...Unfortuneately, regardless of the fact that many of us are on the National Do Not Call Registry, these charitable calls are...LEGAL...the Do Not Call Registry excludes charities...WHY IS THAT????
