    IRS scam

This call is for a fake IRS scammer with an Indian accent.  They leave a robo voice mail saying to call the number back for more info and then you call it and a scammer says he's from the IRS and asks for money.  I've reported this to FTC

SCAMMER FROM INDIA SAID HE'S FROM IRS
GO F@%# Yourself!!! Or your Cow! Calling from India on VOIP Line and is a Scammer. Said he's calling from IRS... Seriously. Do people actually believe this [***]. If you owe taxes to IRS, please call them Individuals: 1-800-829-1040 Businesses: 1-800-829-4933 you're not going to go to jail. Ask IRS for help, and/or setup a small repayment installment agreement or if you can't pay, IRS will place you in IRS Status Not Collectable. FYI, IRS only has 10 years to collect taxes from when they were accessed. If you file BK, Offer in Compromise and they don't accept it, the 10 years start again. Good Luck.

    MORE IRS INFO
IRS 10-Year Statute of Limitations/Statute Expiration

How Long Can the IRS Collect a Debt?

The IRS generally has ten (10) years to collect a debt. After that time has passed, the IRS can no longer legally collect the debt and they write it off.

The ten year period is measured from the date that the tax was assessed, not when it was originally due. So, if you filed your tax return late the 10 year clock will not start running until you filed the return.

If you never filed a tax return, but the IRS filed one for you using a Substitute for Return / 6020(b) assessment, then the statute of limiations began running whenever that assessment was processed by the IRS on your behalf.

The date that your debts expire is known in IRS-lingo as the Collection Statute Expiration Date, or CSED.

    Irritated Taxpayer
Same as the others have stated...they called twice, said a warrant was out for my spouses arrest, they were seizing our property, etc., etc.  Block the caller and report it to your local authorities and / or FTC.  Assuming they are using VOIP for the calls as the ID came up from Connecticut but doubtful.  Said her name was Wendy and her badge number is "IRM1483".

I received 2 phone messages today from 562-348-2004. Both messages were cut off at the beginning, and said only "law suit filed against you. To get more information on this call 562-348-2004 immediately".  I assumed it was phony, but called in an attempt to verify the caller's identity.  I tried 3 times, each time I received only a "busy" signal.  I'm glad to learn this is bogus, as I thought it would be.  I hope and pray these fiends will be caught and prosecuted.  I feel sorry especially for the elderly, who might actually be frightened by such a call.

Called my daughter's phone and asked for me. It was indicated that they were called from the IRS. When she would not provide my information they hung up.  The IRS will never call you about anything.  They send certified mail.
