someone from this number called to say that they represented lieline industries and that we owed money for lightbulbs (yes, I admit i have bought lightbulbes in the past) and it was headed to collection - no notice over the past two years since we allegedly bought them...

We were called by this company in October of 2011 and told we purchased lightbulbs from them in December of 2009 and didn't pay. We were told if we didn't pay on the phone right then they were sending us to collections immediately.  We questioned them and requested written proof that we had ordered and received the bulbs that originally cost $89.00 and had gone up to $223.98 due to late fees and interest.  They couldn't give us that info as she said it had gone to the legal department.  We were still trying to get to the bottome of it and we were then hung up on, called back and hung up on again.  When I called today, I still got a run around and nobody can tell me anything other than it is in collections and we owe the money.  We didn't order these bulbs and feel that we were rudely harrassed by this company.  There are multiple reports on the web from others with the exact same story.

I received a call from this phone number on Friday 11/11/11 who left a message saying my account was going to collections if I did not call by 5pm on Monday. I called today (Monday) and they told me I ordered kitchen accessories on 12/7/09 that cost $124 (now over $162 dues to 'late fees') and it was delivered on 12/14/09. I told them I would not have made that kind of contribution. The organization they said was Disadvantaged Handicapped Workers of America. They said I needed to send proof of payment. Well I decided to google them first and found this website plus another that was an attorney website that assisted someone with the same thing, saying it was probably a scam. NO company would let 2 years go by without payment. For now I am going to ignore this and see if it does go to collections. I highly doubt it because there has to be proof of billing and they couldn't provide me with it, just that I was recorded having made the order.

The same thing happen to me.  I wish I had read this web-site before dealing with this company.  Please do not give this company money it is a fraud.

Same story as above--didn't pay for light bulbs. Have been harassed for a couple of years- collection  co. supposedly called when I was out of town.  One man who called threatened my Soc.Sec.., another one yelled at me that he had my Soc. Sec. number!!!!! Now I just hang up.

I found the tel. # of the caller--itwas given to my house sitter

I got the same phone called - on my caller ID - it said "Victoria Lungren - 562-866-1728".  A black male calling himself Jackson Montgomery called and said that I had an outstanding bill from 12/09/2009 for some trash bags that I had ordered over the phone from "Handicapped Workers of America".  

He said that I had received them but had never paid for them and they had proof that I had received them.  I told him that I had gotten some trash bags and/or some light bulbs from a similar sounding organization (the blind people, I think) and paid them at the time.  

I also told them that I have never gotten a phone call, bill nor a letter in 2 1/2 years concerning this or any other "collection" matter.  No one has ever contacted me about this by letter or leaving a message on my phone and all of a sudden they are calling me after 28 months telling me I owe them $347.99  for $40 something worth of trash bags and over $300 in late fees!!!!!

He then told me that they would waive 10 months of late fees if I would go ahead and settle my account now/tonight and pay $194.00 from a credit card or my checking account.  Oh hell no!

He also said that if I didnt "settle this matter now" that they would turn me over to an outside collection agency and I would have to appear before a judge within 30 days.

Since this reeked of a scam, I told him I was going to look the "Handicapped Workers of America" up on the internet and see what turned up and would call him back.

So what do I find?  Others who have written in and reported the same type of phone calls from the same people all over the country.

One site I found info on was justask.com, a site that dispenses legal advice.  There was a question on there from someone who reported the exact same type of phone call I had gotten.  Their advice was not to give those people any money bec they could possibly get more money from you.  Scary!

I just received a call from a firm called DHWA saying that I owed money for lightbulbs that I had bought in 2009.  The only time that I ever bought light bulbs from a company was when I bought them from Lifeline Industries in 2008.  I paid $36.56 for those light bulbs and never reordered.  The number from which I received the call was almost the same  as the reported number.  It was 562 866 1612.  I was told that I owed $49.00 for light bulbs that I had purchased two years ago and that with the late charges I owed $289.71.   I was also told that if I did not pay a collection agency would be contacting me and that if I still refused there would be a hearing in court.

I just got the same message as everyone above.  I ordered lightbulbs in Dec. 2009 & never paid.  I asked for paperwork showing I received them and "Jackson" refused to give it to me or transfer me to the department that had this paperwork.  They're sending me to collections (they say).  This is a scam.  I ordered lightbulbs from them 5 or more years ago but not since then.  The number that called me is 562-866-1728.  Beware----I'm really interested to see if they send me to "outside collections" as they refer to it.

I doubt that they will send your name, mine or anyone else's to "external collections" since they know that we never purchased anything from them.  I am sure that they are colluding with a company called Lifeline Industries, because I see from the postings that other people and I who purchased products sold via the telephone by Lifeline Industries are receiving calls from DHWA saying that we owe money to them for the same products.  I have a copy of the canceled check which proves that I paid for the light bulbs that I bought from Lifeline Industries, so I told DHWA that I knew that this was a scam and that I owed nothing.  There is no doubt in my mind that they tell people that they will submit the bill to "external collections" to intimidate them so that they will pay it lest their credit record be tarnished.

DHWA has called me multiple times in May 2012 indicating I owed money for air freshener purchased in December 2010.  They have threatened to send my account to outside collections.  I keep great records and I know I bought several products from Lifeline Industries over the period 2006 through 2008, including air freshener in 2006.  I never purchased or received anything from DHWA, definitely a scam!

I also keep detailed financial records.   I was able to locate the cancelled check which I had issued to Lifeline Industries to pay for the light bulbs I had agreed to buy from them.  The purchase was made in April of 2008, whereas DHWA claimed that I had bought light bulbs from them in December of 2009.  It is a shame that they are able to intimidate people into paying for merchandise which they never bought by threatening to submit the bill to "external collections."  In spite of my having reported DHWA to the Federal Trade Commission, I called today the number which had been left on my answering machine last month, 562 866 1612, and the person with whom I had spoken last time, Lisa, answered saying, "DHWA. This is Lisa speaking."  I hung up the phone immediately and was furious that in spite of my report to the FTC these thieves were still able to continue their scam operation.

My daughter received a call from this number yesterday, Friday 6/22/2012  same message as these other people.  I called and talked to the person that had called my daughter.  Her name was Christian and told her she was trying to scam my daughter and not to call her anymore.  These people and organization need to be turned in to the State Attorney Generals Office.  If you go to the BBB they have a "F" rating.

I JUST received a phone call from a woman representing ADHW saying I owe for air freshener I purchased a couple yrs ago. I admit I was slow to pay for the stuff but I DID pay them...over the phone with my debit card.  Since I don't get a paper statement from my bank I CAN'T prove I paid it. She says I better come up with proof or the $49.99 orginal price which has now become $219.82 (due to late fees and interest) or it's going to outside collections. I told her I NOT to call me again and hung up. I'm so mad about this!! I really don't appreciate a phone call at 7am for THIS crap!  I really thought I was helping out the disadvantaged and handicapped workers and in fact they call me all the time wanting me to buy from them AGAIN! I KNOW I took care of paying them and now I will NEVER buy from them again! Just wait till they call me next time. The poor person on the other end of the phone will NOT get a very nice response like they always have in the past!

I worked for this company before and it was extremley unethical. I wasn't aware of their operations when I started but as soon as I figured out what they were doing and how they tried to scheme people out of their money I QUIT!!!!! Beware of this company and the location they are calling from is a smal building on 10 mile and Vandyke.

I received the very same kind of call this evening from an Al Davis of American Trust, phone number 949-356-1761 (information from my ID caller). I allegedly owe the Disadvantaged Workers of America over $320 on a $79 order I allegedley placed in 2011. I've never received a call or a bill from them, and certainly have received no goods. I want to "publish" this name and number as a warning to other potential scam victims. Al Davis is supposed to call me back a week from today; in the meantime, I will diligently do my homework.

I have also heard from Al Davis and a Derrick on the same type of issue.  I heard from this group in 2011 and asked for proof of an invoice and have never received anything..  The 949 area code is a cell number and not an actual business number.  I submitted a complaint a year ago to our state Attorney General's office and will do it again if needed.  This group is not legitimate.

My mother is 80 yrs old and got a call from ADVERTISE inc, 562-867-6122, Rebecca. Said they had called her several times for past bill for air freshners she recieved & never paid for. SCAM. Be aware. Thank you for letting the public know of this fraud.
