they called, didn't leave a message though.  Sounds like a bunch of a$$holes.  On my caller ID it read that the call was coming from Scranton, PA, which is when I decided to do a reverse phone number look-up.

    Ugh
A man called named Michael Turner, stated he was calling because he received some of my files, didn't say what kind of files.  Did not mention what company he was calling from.  only that he wanted to go over my files with me.  Why would I call someone that didn't tell me who they are working for/with and what type of files.  Sounds like a scam!

    Tired of this

This is the second debt collector attempting to collect on an old debt.  First of all, they are not bonded to collect in my state, found that out at the Secretary of State website.  Also, I read somewhere that if debt is over 4 years old, it is uncollectable.  Does anyone know about that?

    It is Legit

The company is Common Wealth Financials and they are a division of Sallie Mae Student Loans and they are a smaller division under some law firm.  Although harassing is not called for nor O.K, they are a debt collection and will do whatever it takes to collect a debt.

If you owe this, they will settle for you for a HUGE discount because they are only out to collect the $$ regardless if it is 100% or 50% of the debt owed.  I am not sure about the 4 year thing, but if it is a private student loan, that is considered a "Secure" loan and must be paid back.  It cannot be debt consolidated nor filed in bankruptcy.

Everyone will have the same story.  "I don't owe debt."  But 90% of those that say that, actually do owe the debt.  Trust me.  I was once part of the 90% and it got to the point where the stress and hair pulling is not worth it.  If you owe it, pay it or better yet, settle or make a half settlement with half payment plans.

Their main concern is to get some kind of payment, so they can work with you.  They know if they don't, they won't get $$.  Just keep that in mind, so don't walk in scared to talk.  You have the upper hand for the most part, but if your information is public such as employment, although it may take awhile, they can start to garnish wages and put a freeze in your bank account.

    It isn't fun.  TRUST ME.

Received several calls from this number recently. If this is a debt collection company they are barking up the wrong tree. I don't owe anyone anything. My house is paid off, I have no car loans, all my medical is through the VA, my credit cards are all zero balance (so I don't need to take advantage of credit consolidation). If calls come in and I do not recognize the calling number on my caller ID display I simply do not answer the call. If they do not leave a message stating what they want, I will not call them back. If I do not like the message left, I will not call them back.

These people were so rude - they called me early and I only answered after they called me a second time in a row.  The guy kept asking for someone named Veronica who I have never heard of.  I continually said I did not know her and that I have had my number for 10 years now.  He then repeated the number he had apparently dialed and it was completely different, so who knows.
