They also called me today about "tax fraud" and said they would have me arrested today in a voicemail they left because I didn't answer. Also said that I should call back immediately and take this very seriously. I will be reporting this today! It is illegal and the IRS will never do this to you! Don't believe them, return their calls, answer the phone or freak out. Read this : http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam and then report them!!

Very deceiving call! Call went to voicemail. Message stated I was under investigation for "tax fraud" and that I or my lawyer needed to call back immediately or I would be arrested. I knew right away that this is not a valid call but I fear for some that may not know better. DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE CALLS! I will be reporting and you should too. Do not let them get away with this scare tactic!

He said his name was Officer Mac Dawson with the IRS (he had a slight accent so I think that's the correct pronunciation). Said I had committed tax fraud and would be arrested today if I or my attorney did not call back. He said "Do NOT disregard this message".

I also received a call from Mac Dawson from the IRS today saying that I had legal charges for tax fraud against me, to call him back, and do not disregard, because I would be getting arrested today. I would say he had a slight Indian accent. The call says it came from VA, USA.

Same thing as everyone above. I work for an intl private asset protection firm and we deal with this very often. It is a shake down tactic used to target foreigners who are used to such actions being "normal" in their country. They are used to bribing officers or such corruption that they think it happens here too. Happened around 4:00p on 7/9

Received message on cell phone voicemail that I had committed tax fraud and "we're about to get you arrested today."   So I called the number back.  The person identified themselves as a detective and wanted to know the number the message was left.  (I had called back on a different phone that only comes up as a business name.)  When I asked the person what state he was calling from he said New York City.  The area code for the number left is northern Virginia.  This person had an accent.  When I told them I was contacting the IRS to find out what this is all about, he hung up on me.

Complete fakes impersonating federal IRS people. Claiming that I'm under criminal charges for tax fraud. This is the 3rd number I've got called by pulling this crap. This needs to end! These telemarketing companies or whoever they are need stricter laws enforced on them, all of their recordings and transactions thoroughly and frequently gone through and any links to this type of cold calling random people threatening stuff like this is not only malicious and out of hand but it sets off unnecessary amounts of anxiety and stress. IRS only contacts you by mail. If they claim otherwise just hang up and report them to the real IRS online. So sick of these phone calls happening. The guy had a total speech problem and more than likely is not originally from the US. I've had people with heavy accents call me before doing the same crap and they were likely from Nepal or India(Funny thing is one of them pretended to be an Officer Shaun White. Shaun White is a professional snowboarder). A major lawsuit and charges need to be taken against these morons.

Caller left voicemail message identifying self as Dennis Gray - calling regarding an enforcement action executed by the US Treasury.  Stated that Ignoring the message would be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense.  This is an IRS phone scam.  I reported to US Treasury.
