My Caller ID shows "DEPT OF SR" and the recording when I answered said it has assistance for seniors over 65. I didn't pay a lot of attention, but it was something like a free alert necklace and money to help with groceries or expenses. It said to press 1 to confirm address or 5 to let my provider know I'm not interested.

Nobody here is over 65 and there was no option to talk with someone to remove my number.

Tired of all the phony calls for 65 and over. With do not call list you still call to only bother.  Would never buy $.01 worth of anything from you and your type.  If you are too lazy to get a real job I would not P on you if on fire.  Just continue to vote Democrat and have your hand out for anything without having to earn.

I have an unlisted telephone number and a few years ago put my phone number on the FCC “Do Not Call” (DNC) list. Soon after this I started getting 5 to 10 calls a day from telemarketers/scammers. I also discovered the FCC is clueless or helpless on how to enforce the list. After doing some research and reading the 800notes comments I discovered why. The telemarketers actually use this same list to call us!!! They realize the FCC will not, or cannot, stop the calls so why not use the list? The head of the FCC in charge of enforcing the list is Thomas Edgar Wheeler. Before his FCC position Mr. Wheeler worked as a lobbyist for the cable and wireless industry. He was appointed by President Obama to run the agency in 2013. Many people at the time expressed concern over Wheeler for the position due to his history of lobbying for industry. So don’t question why you are getting these annoying calls as long as Mr. Wheeler is in charge of enforcing the list. If you are really unhappy with the annoying calls then write to your congressman, senators, news agencies, 60 minutes, etc. and let's get rid of Mr. Wheeler another do nothing, worthless, government employee.

Actually, what I JUST did was press 1 and got an operator.  She asked my name, which I gave her, but then I told her I had some questions for her.  I asked the name of the company and she said "Senior Benefit(s?) Services.  I asked the location and she told me "a secure location in NYC".

After which I told her I had asked to be removed from their call list FIVE times now.  So, what I was going to start doing is longing every call and submitting it to the FEDS, as well as bring suit, which I would win, to the tune of $1500 for each call from today.

I do market research and for a person to be removed, they have to SPECIFICALLY say "Remove me from your CALLING list".  Now, I think that is sleazy, if a person wants removed they should be able to just say "remove me" but we all know how ethical corporate America is.

Anyway, if you follow the steps I mentioned, and DO keep a log, even the next call comes from a different number (and it will...it's a scam), then follow through and report them, as well as file a complaint, I have a feeling the calls will stop.

OH, one last thing.  You will be told it will take up to 7 business days to get your number removed.  That is a lie.  Once they code you as a "DNC" or "Remove", it is immediate.

    Good luck.
