they said they were verifying my number

Left a garbled message about calling them to to verify what number they just called. When pigs fly.

They are a company in recording your voice for voice recognition. Probably a government plot to know everything about everyone..

Call from this number asking to verify phone number for a directory------They had just called my number and should know what it is.

When I answered they had a recording.  Said to hit 1 and that would unscribe my phone number.

This the exact message they left:

Hello This is Volt Delta in Rochester, NY calling to verify your number for directory assistance. This is not a solicitation call. Your number has now been verified and no further action is required by you. If you do not wish to be called by this service again please call 585-362-4104.

Called ID showed they called from 585-362-4105.

I will assume they're trying to "reverse psychology" (i.e. subtly annoy) you into calling them, so I won't.

Anyone out able to intelligently explain from a business perspective what they might be trying to do?

sums up as some marketing ploy or- just what it purports to be- somehow auditing  a database.

Actually the number is from 585-362-4105 - THe call Back number is the 4104
Got a call stating my number was verified.  Here is the website of Volt Delta... Asked that they add my number to the DO Not Call List.

It is  ploy for additional marketing calls.

I received a call a day or 2 ago from this number. They said they were from Volt Delta and that they wanted to verify my phone number for directory services.  I was given the opportunity to opt out from further calls which I chose.  They said I would not be called again.  So far I have received 3 more calls from this same number.

Received a call from 585-362-4105 ~ Volt Delta LLC.  I could not understand the message they left.  I called the number back from a blocked number with the mute ON. A recording said to call 855-875-7632 if I wished to speak to a representative.  I called this number (again from a blocked number with the mute on).  A woman answered and for nearly two minutes she repeatedly said "Hello".  I Googled their website.

My conclusion:  Their objective is at least two-fold -- 1. Call people in order to record their voices for various uses and 2. Call people to gather info for telemarketing and other ventures.

Either way, they are obviously calling random computer generated numbers which the representatives do not even have access to!  Just another nuisance company.

People, whatever you do, never call an unknown number back and enter your number into some supposed "Do Not Call List".  They are LIARS.  It is their way of getting your name & number!

This is a way to "slam" someone. Slamming is a scam where they ask to verify information to get you to say the word yes. They record it chop the recording then months later they call back and say you owe money and they have a verbal contract with you. Keep in mind the words "yellow pages" and the walking finger logo are not under copyright at this time so any one can say they are the yellow pages and you owe them money.

This caller calls with a recorded message about confirming listing information. They fail to have an operator on the line when the recording is played, in violation of federal law.

This company is Volt Delta, calling to verify that the phone number is active so that telemarketers have the right number when they call you! If you have caller id, don't answer this call and report to the do not call registry at https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx. It takes less than two minutes and the folks at the registry are doing a great job because our telemarketing calls have decreased noticeably!

Just got a call today 9/6/2013. Looked them up on the internet at VoltDelta.com. They are a company that services many different businesses in telephone communications, like the "medical field" where they communicate with patients to remind them of an appointment or their Rx needs to be refilled.
