received a call from this company. when i answered and said hello, no one spoke. the line was open so someone was there, but they did not say anything. after a few seconds i hung up. anyone know what this company is about?

Guy called and asked for someone with my name but born in a different year?

This is Conserve - a collection agency in Upstate NY that among other things handles the US Dept. of Ed (student loans).

Repeated calls. A collection agency that assumes that because the name is the same of the person at the number they called, they have the correct identity. For student loans. No one in my home has ever had a student loan. I asked what year the person was born which wasnt correct so "Conserve" agreed to remove us from their list. They will not give any information about their company.

Caller ID appears almost daily, but this "place" NEVER leaves a message.
Our attitude is, if you have an important & VALID message to leave, then you'll do so, otherwise we will never accept calls when this name or number appear on caller ID.

They do not leave a message because that is considered a contact and due to collecting laws they are only allowed so many a week. if no message is left they can call all day long.

the reason they never leave a voice mail on your machine is because of 2 reasons... 1 if they do they cant contact u again for the rest of the day unless u call them... and 2 if the NAME of the person they are looking for is NOT on the answering machine they will NOT leave a msg and can NOT leave a msg its considered as disclosing the debt to a third party and is against the FDCPA (fair debt collections practices act) now "sick of these nusciance calls" unless your name is on the machine dont expect any msg to be left :)

and when i say NAME i mean FULL name not just your first name... must be first and last

Thanks for this website and all the great people who contribute.  I get calls from this and other mystery numbers which I never pick up - knowing something about them gives peace of mind.

I have received several calls from this number...caller ID said Fairport, NY...I thought I would have some fun with it and answered the phone. They tired to verify it was me with their "information"...I reminded them that they called me and should know who I am...then asked them if this was the FTC calling to confirm the the rash of telemarketers who call even though I am on the DNC list...suffice it to say they hung up. We'll see if they call back. Now that I know it's a telemarketing co, I will continue to let them go to VM since they have a habit of not leaving any messages and really report them to the DNC people. Good luck.

Has called multiple times I have picked up on several but there is no answer after I say hello. Past frustrated thinking maybe I should change phone #s but who the heck knows if that new number will be just as bad. I went to school on a full scholarship so I had no school loans. Grrr angry bear right now.

the person from this number called today and was every bit of rude! First he couldn't pronounce the name right so it took a few minutes to decipher who he was calling for. Then when I told him he had the wrong number he badgered me about this being a cell phone belonging to said person and all but called me a liar. What a jerk! I don't know what they want but they are definitely not getting it with that attitude!

Asking for someone that isnt me. Even when I identify myself they act as if I am lying. If this is the Dept. of Education, they need to educate their collect callers.. bunch of fools!

This is a company called Conserve. They leave a vmm every day on my cell and they have my work number as well. Since I live in Fla, I know this is illegal for anyone to contact at work for any reason without express permission. I don't know what they are calling me about. I don't have any loans at all past or present.

My student loans are paid up to date AND six months in advance. I'll be making the next payment shortly, so this scammer has no reason to call me.  Now that I know what is going on, I'll read that caller the riot act next time he/she calls.  Their call is neither legitimate nor important in my books since the so-called "company" chose to leave no message or even reveal a name on my caller ID.

I spoke with these people.  They are trying to collect on a student loan that is over 25 years old and has been PAID!!!  They want me to show proof of payment!! I said really??  You think I have records back that far??   If you don't pay a student loan they garnish your wages and take your tax returns, seriously, they get paid one way or another!!   I called the company that I originally had the loan through and they had "no record" of the loan, however the company that called me stated that they got my information from that company.....  SCARY!!!.  After that conversation, they still call!!!

They call my place of business every day. I finally called the number back after numerous times of them calling and having an open line or calling and hanging up. I waited on hold for about 5 minutes. I let them know that they were calling a business and they said they would up date their records.  I do not think they will.  I expect to continue receiving calls from them. The person I spoke to was rude and talked over me while I was explaining what was happening. He then hung up on me.

I hate companies like this.

This people are harassing me every morning with a phone call before I even wake up!  Even if it is a student loans collections agency, I don't have any student loans, and the last time they left a VM it was for some other guy.

Get off my back !
