caller said she was Shannon Miller.... asked to speak to my wife... said she was a friend of my wife and she wanted her work number... when I informed her that we didn't know her and I wasn't giving out my wife's work number... she tried to be charming and asked for her cell number... again I repeated that I wasn't giving nothing out to someone I don't know... she then gave her number 602-453-8906.  I called my wife at work and asked if she knew anyone named Shannon Miller and she replied that she didn't.

Its from a company called Progressive Financial.  They collect OLD student loans under contract from the U.S. Department of Education.

Total dirtbags.

Calls and never leaves a message.

The man called and started talking to me with very sexy ganster tone...it was very scary.  He was asking me my name.  I got scared and hung up the phone.  He called back and my husband answered and gave him a tongue lashing.  Turns out the man works for a collection agency.  We do owe the money and it will be paid but just because I owe the government money doesn't mean someone can call me and be disrespectful like that.  Very unprofessional.

Progressive and other collection agencies break every law that is supposed to protect us debtors from abuse. The irony is that they work on behalf of the federal government!   They do not fear us much because the most you can collect from them in any legal action has been capped, by the Congress, at only $1000.  This does not serve us well, as it does not deter them at all. Write your Congressman and ask that the limits placed upon such a legal action against them be removed!  I have had them physically threaten me, use terrible language, call neighbors frequently, call relatives frequently, and they wonder why I will not pay them.They are NOT going to make a dime off my debt. I hang up on them or block their calls. If you do not cooperate with them , there is really not much they will or can do.
