    Dear Pissed Off Consumer,
I have personally known the owners of MCM Merchandising for three years, and I hold then in highest regard. The Kirby company is full of scam artists who get their jollies off by ripping off single mothers and the elderly. I worked with the owners of MCM in concord, before they owned their own store, and was very close with them. They are only going by the Kirby standards of hiring, as they have to, so unfortunately people with a high immoral rate tend to slip by. When I worked for the Concord NH branch, I always was respectful of people who let me into their home, and always did a professional job with my work.
I am over all insulted that you would say such a thing about such close friends of mine, saying that they should be lined up and shot. You should be ashamed to write such a thing about a person who you have never actually met, you could have just left it at "I am on the do not call list".

LOL! If you were told you "won a free cleaning" its because you filled out a green gas/grocery card. They're allowed to call you because they are not soliciting anything, they're offering you a free service. When they tell you a friend or family member put your name and number down but can't disclose who, thats because your friend or family member didn't want you pissed @ them for putting your name and number on the list. When writing about a person you use the spelling their.
The people you speak of, whom, in your opinion, deserve to be lined up and shot...they are people w/ families of their own. They are employed to offer free services and get representatives into homes to demonstrate the Kirby. They are not scumbag scam artists. They are hard working individuals who need to make a living. Ever try just asking nicely to be taken off a list? It works far better than being a rude prick to an innocent telemarketer.

I love MCM Merchandising! I've worked there 2.5 yrs and am going on matternity leave soon. You bet your ass I'll be back when that leave is up. For all y'all who have complaints, chances are, you've dealt w/ the few and far between people who, maybe were'nt of the highest quality as far as respect and morality. The employees whom have been there for an extended period of time, do however deserve to be treated as kindly as they treat you. Just because we tell you we're w/ the Kirby Company, does NOT give you the right to degrade and disrespect us. Just enjoy the free cleaning and give the rep a chance to let you like them. Even if you are'nt in the market, @ least you're not paying to get the cleaning, and you're also helping the reps and telemarketers just by having us out.

I worked for this company for over a month.  I did not make one dime.  They are scam artists to the nth degree. Yes, they are affiliated with Kirby vacuum cleaners.  It is a decent vacuum.  When I first went to their orientation I was told we would not be intrusive to potential customers or never try to push a sale onto anyone.  The one thing that appealed to me was we were told we would not solicite the elderly. Not true.  You go to a house and sometimes this is a house they have sent other workers to. the client says I have had my carpet cleaned 6 times already and I have never bought one of the vacuum cleaners.  We still have to tell them you are not obligated to buy this machine but I still have to give the demonstration.  Which they already know, but hey they're senior citizens on social security and they are getting a free service as well as some company. Everything they tell you is exagerated.  After the demo you have to call the comapany and tell them the customer does not want to join the Kirby family.  The agent on the other end of the line then begins to badger you into badgering the customer by throwing deals at them.  Suddenly the $1600.00 dollar vacuum is eligible for discount after discount.  I made two sales while I was with them.  However, neither one of the vacuums were at the retail rate so I was not eliglible to be paid.  As it turned out they didn't sell anyhow because they couldn't pass the credit check.  I carried the same vacuum cleaner to about a hundred houses.  They actually have brand new boxes to put the old vacuums in once the box starts looking like it's seen better days, and a repairman on site to pretty up the machine itself to make it look sparkling new again after so many demos.  So now your wondering why I stayed so long. Or anyone for that matter.  They had me go out with one of their pros, to see what I was doing wrong.  He was like a pit bull going in for the kill with a widowed 87 year old woman. She was like a superstar, she got her carpet cleaned and still didn't buy the vacuum.  They have very good people there who make you feel like you can do it and once you break the ice, you will be making sales galore,  Your told you will have to do 15 demos a week in order to make the $500.00 base salary. And they will supply you with leads.  I was never given 15 demos.  I drove all over New England.  I worked 6 days a week.  I went to every morning meeting to pick up tips and knowledge on how  to be good at this.  All of it was garbage. They want you to get your own leads by bullying the client into giving you 25 names of homeowners.  They tell you in exchange they will enter you into a contest for $1000.00 dollars.  Please do not fall for these tactics.  And anyone who is looking for employment through this company don't make the same mistake that I made and literally thousands of others have.  Look up Kirby vacuums and do some research of what others have said and you will begin to see a pattern.  Good luck dealing with the Rochester, NH retailers of the Kirby Vacuum Cleaner company.

    Hello,

Just so everyone knows, this company was rude to me directly over the phone after
I asked them not to call back. They insisited we asked them to call back and set up an appointment.
I told a women from the company, we are not interested. She replied to me, " That I personally confirmed the appointment" I stated, " I have never spoken with her" She replied- " It must have been my wife's other husband" and then hung up.
I called the owners and they acted all upset and I was told she was a Leader in their call center. They told me something would be done. I just ask for them to call me and let me know what plan of action they would take. I am still waiting!!!!
How can people operate a business with no intergrity!!!
With 14 million people out of work, we can do better.
As for you who know the owners, I asked them to call or e-mail when they decided what would
happen to the women who they agreed was way out of line.
I have not heard a thing!!!! Borderline harrassment suits should be filed!! They harrass you, then insult you, and do not even decipline their workers because this type of attitude is what they are looking for as a leader!! Wow

I am so glad I read this page.  I have an interview tomorrow for a "human resource" position... I had no clue that MCM was actually Kirby.  I had a Kirby Vac in the past and can honestly say that I loved it; but I DO NOT want to go door to door to sell that vac.  I guess my dress will not be as professional as they requested..........let's see if I get the job now!!

I'm very thankful for reading this page. I just called MCM and lined up an interview in Rochester.  Actually the women that I spoke to talked so fast that I fully did not understand everything that she had to say about what the job was about!!  Now that I know, I am cancelling out.  I am not interested in selling vacume cleaners door to door.  Gas costs alot and wear & tear on my vehicle...forget it!!  I hate pushy salesman and I for sure wouldn't do it!!
