- jf| 3 repliesIt's Metropolitan Credit. I don't answer. FYI to those out there with old debt (mine are over 10 years old). If your debt is over 6 years old and you have not made a payment or acknowledged debt, the statute of limitations has expired for collection. Google it. Agencies like Met Credit purchase defaulted accounts for pennies from debtors. Ask for proof of claim on "alleged" debt. Odds are they don't have any. Ever wonder why these agencies settle for so much less on old debt? Because if it's older than 6 years and you have not made a payment or acknowledged debt, by law they cannot collect anything. Therefore, any money they receive is essentially profit because they buy your debt & info for next to nothing...

- Jaime| 1 replyThis number called me at 500pm
Friday night. Asked to speak to me I said they were talking to me. She proceeded to ask what my birthday was. So I asked who is calling. She refused to say who was calling until I verified my birthday. I told her I wasn't telling anybody anything until I knew who I was talking to. She refused. So I hung up the phone. I think they have to tell you who is calling if you ask.- Caller: Metro credit

- TimerAngel11| 1 replyI accidentally answered this call and thinking its my credit union bank, it wasn't. It was Metropolitan Credit, and told me about my cell bill being unpaid, for a year. and they ask my address, and email, but good thing I gave them no credit account of anyone's, because they ask if I, my friends, neighbors, relatives have a credit card to use, and I said no. but i can pay bell online, but have to ask my dad. and he said well.. and said will you be able to pay it at 11 am tomorrow, I said I dont know, have to talk to my Dad first. and said yes the bill will be paid. then he said your wasting my time.. and said something about the bylaw or byline on the contract. and I was thinking, he threatened me on phone, will I be arrested by tomorrow at 11 am if I don't get this bill paid. :( and this is my first time talking to them. and yes sometime in the future, I will be paying it off. so why now for a year their calling and threatening me to be put to jail. is there any law against this??

- TimerAngel11Well this call about yesterday Metropolitan Credit I got yesterday, I talked to my neighbor cuz he is a Dad with three kids, and my dad wasn't home and i was panicking about it. and he said it is a scam, don't bother and no you wont get arrested cuz the police does not do anything about it. so I am good. and the only thing they can do about an unpaid bill is that when you get a new phone, you have to pay your phone in advance. like paying that unpaid bill, but it will be more to pay off.

- Jennifer replies to TimerAngel11They can't arrest you for debt. They're just trying to scare and bully you. Don't bother answering their phone calls ever again and don't acknowledge your debt again. Talk to your dad about paying it off to Bell, but don't bother going through the credit collectors. They're a bunch of rude, half-witted, dip-[***], so there's no point in subjugating yourself to their abuse. If you're alright with having a black mark on your credit score, then just ignore it completely. Credit score infractions only last for 6 years anyways and if it wasn't your credit card used to pay off the bills then it's your parent's responsibility to handle it.
- JeffThe collector called my place of work, isn't there laws against that?

- JoyDebt collection agencies are rude. There should be rules they MUST FOLLOW yet they don't. There should be LAWS TO FOLLOW again they some how get away with harassing people. Here's my take.
1. A debt in arrears
A. Call and request information on how the debt will be paid. No insults or threats.
2. If the person doesn't pay as agreed
Go after the person legally.... what ever that means
If I harass, bully and threatened anyone I would likely be charged for threatening to harm someone. So I ask all police force why is it okay for companies like this not held accountable for harassing, bullying and threatening? There are legal ways to deal with collecting debts with out the above tactics. The honest people will pay what they owe in time. The ones that are not will be dealt with the courts.- Call type: Debt collector
- 111 replies to JaimeNo they do not because it has to do with the privacy act
- TundeThey are fraudsters .. They are wanting to collect a debt that I don't owe .. I don't even know how can my active Fido account (which I don't owe anything )be on a collection ?!?!?! And why they refuse to acknowledge and remove my file ? I have all the proofs but they refuse to admit they are wrong and keep telling me I have to pay or they will ruin my credit ... What the hell ? These people should be in jail
