I thinks it's CCRA...but the number came up disconnected when I called it??

This is CRA, it't the number that pops up when someone calls.  Not specific to anyone.

Received a call 11/24/2008 from this no. The female caller left message saying,"this is the CRA", to please call back 604-691-4990.  The Call Display shows "PRIVATE  and the phone no. displayed is 604-691-4994. Suspicious!!!

This is the general CRA number for investigative calls. Intentionally not displayed so you might pick up.

Some one called me from this number and said it is BC revenue agency and call back, I call several
time on that number it says it is Revenue Canada BC's local number check your number and call.

I don't know what happened.

It is the CRA and it's legit.

As others have said it is definitely CRA.  I get calls from them at work and that's the number that shows on caller ID.   However the number they give you to call back is totally different.  This number is probably just the line number for their telephone system.

Yes it is Canada revenue agency that called to ask questions about Employment Insurance claims

A woman named Ann Mc Cullough claimed she is from Revenue Canada and I have to pay about $ 700 000, I would owe a contractor, to Revenue Canada immediately. If not I face dire consequences.

I spoke to the agent regarding an employee, he gave a call back number that he asked to have our employee call. When I looked up the call back number 1-800-661-5991 it is registered to the CRA at the address above.

It's a scam! Don't give them any information!!

It is the CRA, it is not a scam, I have an employee seeking claims from the Gov regarding her EI benefits, and I had called and received a call back from the gentleman I left a message for from this number. It seems to be their general out call number. It is for sure NOT a scam and sorry to say this but it is for sure the CRA. I live in Toronto by the way, and the number is a BC number....so it doesnt matter where in Canada you live.

This is a scam!! Please beware, everyone!! CRA does not conduct business like this over the telephone - everything is done in writing. The caller tries to intimidate you into giving personal information. It certainly sounds legit, but it is not. Report these calls to the Fraud Centre. It's sad that this is still happening. I received another voicemail yesterday...

Ignore calls from this number. very elaborate scam. Call coming from Vancouver Bc. Asking to call back to a nr. 800 which is a toll nr. from States. Plus asking you to be ready to have social insurance number when call back. CRA does not deal this way. Beware

Received a phone call from this number today. She tried to pressure me into giving my personal information. I told her I didn't trust her and I'm not giving information over the phone. She told me to call back a different number 18006615991

This is a SCAM

I received a message from a woman saying she was from Accounts Receivable at the CRA (didn't give her name which made me suspicious). She called from 1-800-661-5991 and told me to call back that number. Also said it was urgent. In the past if I have been called by the CRA, they always give their name, as well as a direct extension. When I called back, a man answered and began the process of verifying me by asking personal questions which is common practice when you call a general inquiry line at CRA. I just didn't have a good feeling about it though so I didn't give him all my info and told him that I would call back a different number. When I called the general inquiry line that I found on the CRA website, the women that I reached checked my file and said that there weren't any notes on my account stating that I needed to call in. She said that I did the right thing by not giving him my info and that if anyone ever feels uncomfortable, they should not give any personal information. She also said that you always have the right to demand that the person on the other line identify themselves.
