- nicholas| 5 repliesI received a call from 1-607-737-1409, from a guy telling me he was Windows Technical Department, I asked him a few questions like who is your company, why are you calling me and immediately he put me over to his Supervisor, David Venger, who says he was the senior technician. He cut me off each time I asked him for more info on his company saying it was unimportant. Apparently I have to believe him as he has worked in Germany and the US. Eventually he said their contact number was 1-567-252-5214. I asked for his boss, Roger Smith, and Roger was just as rude as the other two. He told me I had to log on to my computer to install important updates. I told him I would not do anything as I have no idea who they are or what they want. He asked if I knew Bill Gates. Why?? Because if I knew Bill Gates I could call him myself and ask what the problem was with my computer??? WTF? Eventually he hung up on me as I kept pressing for more info.
Do not give these people your information- Caller: windows technical department
- bg replies to nicholasgot the same call today!
- Lynn replies to nicholasThey called me today (July 29, 2012). These guys are just scam artists trying to gain access to your computer....smart boy that you are Nicholas, you caught on to their scam but not everyone does.
My question is, how do they get my number in the first place? Even though I have it on the "DO NOT CALL" list, it doesn't seem to matter. I get all kinds of calls, all the time. :-( - dannielle borrisa man call alex phone 4 time in less than 5 minutes his numbers are as followed

- asskramp replies to nicholas| 1 replyI got the same call but this time i went to my comp. I went to my event viewer and he asked me about my error messages. I keep a very clean comp so there was nothing to look at . That is when he told me my comp was fine. I feel if there was some messages he would have had me give him control of my comp. All we have to remember is if they get the error message then you should of had the same message . So if you do not see any messages on your comp then he should not be getting them. I have also called windows support and they have told me they do not call for the error message you may get. It is up to you to get it fixed if there is a problem. I do not even send the error report to windows at all because it well not help with the problem anyway.
- pissed the [***] off replies to nicholasI just received two calls actually from that same number TODAY and I have caller ID and it came up as coming from a payphone absoultely "unbelievable" how dumb do they think the American citizen customer is??? I live in Illinois and get these types of calls daily 6 to 8 times tops all day long and I ve tried getting our own States Attorney involved and prepaid legal LAWYERS and all they say is well your listed as a business so they the Federal Trade commission can keep allowing this to keep taking place i say we get petitions started in our communities surrounding businesses and put a stop to this once and for all !!!!!!
- heartbrokenGot a call today from this number asking me I'd I had lost a cat. I explaines I had lost a dog and they claimed they were a microchip tracking company and I could hire professionals to find my dog. When I asked what the professionals did they told me " put up flyers, contact the pounds and rescues and network the dog on online. Already did that myself and I don't know of any legit microchip company that offers these services. They must have got the info off of my craigslist add. How cruel can you be to get a persons hopes up about their lost animal. [***].
- Caller: Pet Chip services

- SHARON MAY replies to mariaSame thing happened to me a few minutes ago.......607 737 1409 called and when I answered..no response.
I called the number right back and the error mssg. was the same "not a working number" - Christina| 1 replyCalled ID said that this was a payphone.
Then a guy that sounded like he was from India came on and mentioned something about our computer and that it would crash soon unless he helped me go through the computer system with his help.
I am pretty alert when it comes to scams and this sounded fishy.
Background chatter sounded like a bunch of people were calling different numbers and giving the same spiel.
I finally told him that I don't understand and I had to go. Hung up. They tried calling back, but I let it go to the answering machine. They left no message.
Crazy. They banked on me answering because it said "payphone" on it! - Christina replies to ChristinaUPDATE:
Called the number back and hey it's not in service! - SwissThanks to the contributors to this thread, I finally realise what's going on. I have got this call several times from very accented gentlemen telling me they are "Windows Security" company and my computer is at risk. It was obviously a scam so I once kept them on the line just for a laugh, and when they cottoned on that I knew what they were doing they hung up.
However, I get a call from +16077371409 every few days (which is very annoying as I am working outside my phone's country so pay roaming costs). Once they got through and I told them to get lost, but usually when I answer there is silence for 6 or 7 seconds and then a computer voice says "Goodbye". So I looked up the number and now I know who it is, I will save the roaming charges and not answer.- Caller: Windows Security
- E Taylorno message..hung up

- Scam HaterThis is a SCAM, I got this call about a year ago, he will use some sort of remote assistance software like Teamviewer to access your PC and show you supposed errors. Then will offer to fix them for a nominal fee. Btw, Microsoft will NEVER contact you by phone in the first place.
- SarahThis number called me though viber I never receive calls though there
