As soon as I answered, a gentleman immediately said "I'm very sorry to have bothered you, have a very nice day", then hung up.

called, rude, yelled, screamed- i did not know these people, have no idea who they are but don't answer.Horrible.

When I answered the phone the lady said is this a business and I said no this is a residence.  She said I'm sorry and hung up

IT's people looking to steal you info. Stop posting your on the do not call list, the FTC and FCC do do [***] w/the info when you file a complaint .
I'm a cop in Maryland, Guess what I do when I get calls like this . That's right I call 911 and tell them someone just called me from xxxxxx number and stated they were going to harm me and my family!
Guess what after the state police call them they never call back!
Even the FTC will tell you CALL THE POLICE. What they are doing is illegal.
You cant prove what they said and they cant prove if they said anything at all.
The only thing the police will look at is why are they calling you if the LAW says they should not.

Wasn't home when they called at 6:07 pm but saw it on caller ID.  When I checked messages I heard a female voice saying, "It's an answering machine"....

DUH!  That's all they will ever get since I don't answer unknown calls. Morons.

Female called from this number just now asking "Is this a business?". She refused to give out information when I asked who she was and what she wanted. She just kept asking and then finally said they do surveys on businesses. "Have a nice day" and hung up.

I called the President, Gregg. He said that they do survey research which is not telemarketing so it is not covered by the do not call list rules.

Very polite technology survey people.

LONG questionnaire though.
No benefit to answering, just felt like being nice to people with a crappy job.

Very nice man inquiring whether my number was a business. When I told him no, he was apologetic stating he was doing research on businesses. Thanked me and hung up.

You have to fill out some boxes online but the more people who file a complaint, the sooner we get our peaceful lives back from these pirates.
