- P| 1 replyThey call here about once a week. It says "Ohio State University". I believe it's for donations to help with OSU, they never leave a message & unfortunately I'm usually at work so I can't get to answer them.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Dave| 1 replyAre you sure this is from OSU? It seems to be strange. It could be a fake.
If it is truly from OSU, they should reveal who they are and explain why they are calling.
I think this is a fake.- Caller: Fake OSU?
- DaveG| 3 replies614-247-xxxx is OSU phone numbers - it's likely the alumni association looking for money.
- Caller: Ohio State
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- jo ` replies to DaveG| 2 replieshow do you know that it is a campus number. by the way, dont they ask alumni for donations by mail and thru other fund raising events. very shady at best. osu has all 0001-9999 numbers given to them by the phone company. thats a lot of numbers
- Ann replies to jo `This isn't the Alumni Association but it is a solicitation from OSU. I have been receiving a call twice a week now--happened last year as well. I finally answered it and was asked to donate money (as if I don't already give them enough in tuition!)
- OSU FanThe number is from the Ohio State University Call Center. It is a University run center that employs OSU students to make calls on behalf of the different colleges and schools and departments across the Universtiy. Most of the calls are to talk to friends and alumni of Ohio State and ask for support, but they also help with surveys and other phone related programs.
Most of the time they are mistaken for telemarketers and are not given the benefit of the doubt. They are a great group of students that really do enjoy talking to alumni and friends of the university. I was a student once, along will a lot of you, and we know how hard it was. Please give them a chance, even if you can't help to support OSU at that time.
Thanks!- Caller: Ohio State University
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- OSU Alumni| 1 replyosu fan...I would agree...but i gave money 2 years ago and now they call all the time...I pick up and it hangs up...I told them i am not interested and to take me off the list...but i just got a call and it hung up. i didnt remember what it was for until i looked it up. I thought it was a prank or somehting because they call all the time at different times and do not leave messages. I am sick of the calls....I will not be giving any more money to OSU.
- OSU Animal Hospital| 1 replyI have been taking my little dog to OSU. I also have been getting calls from this number that doesn't leave a message and when I call back it is either busy or no one answers. I have limited minutes on my cell so I really do not appreciate calls that isn't to the point. I am going to have my cell company block calls from this number. That is the only way to stop the calls that you do not want . Also I will be reporting this to the Hospital when we go back next week. I have certainly spent a great deal of money at OSU Animal Hospitl for their medical services. I would think they would not want this kind of publicity.
- annoyed replies to OSU Animal HospitalIt isn't the vet hospital calling you....that number comes up as private on caller id...
- value peace and privacy in home replies to PShame on any university that would encourage and financially compensate its students to invade the homes of its contributing alumni during rare private family time. They make these incessant and intrusive calls during meal times and late at night. Any legitimate and respectable organization would discourage this. Has anyone at OSU ever calculated how much they lose by alienating so many alumni? Moreover, they have no mechanism to stop this despicable behavior. This practice is beyond the pale and should be outlawed.
- kkjasmine2312614 is definitely a Columbus, Ohio (OSU) area code. Get calls from this number ALL THE TIME. Hello OSU---if you would have helped get me a job upon graduation I would be MUCH more likely to give you a donation!!!
- Caller: osu
- OSU Fire BuckThis wasn't a telemarketing call for me at all. This was a thank you call for a donation I made to the James Cancer Hospital.
- Caller: OSU Medical Center
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Mrs. M - OSU Representative| 4 repliesWe apologize that some of our younger staff may not be the most concise in explaining why they are calling. During training we teach them about how to obtain donations from all manner of folks. Some folks are much tougher than others to obtain donations from so we must train our students to recognize this. If you exhibit the traits of a Staunch Non-Donator (SND) most of our staff and volunteers will not even bother leaving a message as it is a waste of our valuable time and tends to rile the SNDs, Luckily we are often given lists with enough info that we usually are very good at targeting our calls. If you are called "out of the blue" and especially if no message was left you may have just been unfortunate enough to be called during one of our periods of downtime when donations are not as crucial or you may just need to be added to our Likely Non-Donator or SND list aka the "cheap sheet."
- Caller: Ohio State University, Alumni Orgs., etc.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Ohio State Grad replies to Mrs. M - OSU RepresentativeHaha the cheap sheet?? Who in the world do you think you are? Most recent alumni like myself are still trying to get rid of student loans from
Ohio State and also don't make a lot of money! It's ridiculous we get solicited by a University we all speak so highly of. These things definitely make me change my mind. Right now, I'm paying less to earn my Graduate degree than I paid for my Undergrad. Do not go to Ohio State. They don't care about their students or their alumni. - OSU graduateI went to OSU for grad school and they actually called me on my cell phone, asking for an alumni donation, WHILE I WAS WRITING MY MA EXAMS!! I hadn't even graduated yet and they were already hitting me up for money.
OSU had stopped calling me after January 2011, but they started up again about a month ago and are calling me 1 to 2 times per week on my cell phone - usually in the evening. I graduated December 2010 and just started my first permanent job post-MA this month. I don't have any money to spare for OSU, and at this point I don't have many fond feelings left for the school either.- Caller: OSU
- OSU RetireeSame story as everyone else. Calls coming in from 614-247-6239 1-2x/wk. for a very long time. Have had this OSU solicitation # blocked for months but they still try - often at dinner time. So annoying. Does President Gee know how frustrating it is to constantly receive these calls. I would suggest that they call him instead. I worked at OSU for over 30yrs & retired recently. Enough is enough.
- Caller: Ohio State University
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Ashley replies to Mrs. M - OSU RepresentativeWow... You're a B***h. Why would anyone want to donate to an organization to which you belong?
- OSU AlumnusFor everyone that's complaining that they do this: those donations sought by individual colleges within OSU went to enhancing your experience while there. I'm sorry that you may be a very recent grad who doesn't have much income, however other recent grads get hired making a lot more than you, so why not ask? I enjoyed my time at OSU and when they call I'm apologetic when I can't help. If you are rude and abusive to the students calling, what example does that set for those following in our footsteps other than showing them our grads are pricks and it's totally acceptable? That is all.
- Nancy replies to jo `614-247-xxx is definitely an OSU exchange.
- gradThey called me at 10 pm the other day
