They call and hang up couple times week and hand up. No message,

call received but no answer on line

We live in Missouri. Number shows up in caller ID as the number 614-360-2882, Columbus, OH. Three times within the last two weeks, yet when answered, no recording, nothing. After a few seconds, the phone goes to dial tone.

received today 12/7/09 call from 614-360-2882.  Who are these people?  How can they call when you are on a do not call list?

We get calls from this number several times a week.  I never answer since
there is no ID. Can I block them??

@ohios: How can they call if you are on the DNCR? It's simple: they dial your number.
The DNCR only stops legitimate telemarketers (is that an oxymoron?) from calling you. Surveys, politicians, charities, and companies that you already do business with are exempt. Scammers obviously don't care, if they are phishing for identity theft, they don't care about the DNCR anymore than a bank robber would care about a no-parking zone. During the height of the housing bubble, I was getting recorded calls and text messages (in Spanish!) on my company-owned cell phone. How did they reach me? Two words: automatic dialers.

If they call often, contact your phone provider about "selective call rejection".

THEY'VE CALLED US MANY TIMES WITHOUT LEAVING A MESSAGE. CALLER ID SAYS IT'S FROM 'COLUMBUS, OH.'

Received 2 or 3 calls from this number. When I pick up the phone, there is no answer.
