Prank call

Apparently this is a number now being used by Boston College to conduct fundraising.

It's the Boston College fundraising machine, who has been calling my house 3x a weeks, as late as 8:50pm, to beg for money. Their number use to come up as BC, now they decided not to revel that, as no one was probably picking up. But it's seriously annoying, and if no one picks up (and they don't leave a message) they should just STOP!

After many calls, some rather late in the evening, I found the calls from this number were from Boston College or someone purporting to be Boston College. The caller id showed the call coming from Newtonville with a Boston area code, i.e., 617. Boston College is located in Newton, MA, not Newtonville. Because the calling was so aggressive, intrusive and deceptive I won't and didn't give the College a cent.

This is Boston College. I refuse to answer they call constantly.

which came first, folks:

1) Your refusal to support your school help future students succeed at it?
—or—
2) A phone call you might have received 20 years later?

All I know is, you have one very simple "do not call" option: any charity that ever makes a point not to call you generally will put you on a special list, where all correspondence and calls about fundraising are blocked. It's usually $10k.

These calls are annoying and endless. I have them on blocked call. They are as bad as debt collectors.
Seriously why would I ever give money to the school. Never helped me when I needed it.
All they do is hike tuition. It is a business, it is for profit  Private School.
I told do not call but they don't care. Keep asking me for a $10K donation.  Give money to feed the poor not feed the mouths of greedy businessmen!

FYI - You're either a BC grad or a former BC student. Not both.

Called 5 times in a row. I answered and hung up immediately each time..who calls 5 times in a row? Scam call probably.

617-641-1856 called me several times and when I finally answered the call, they claimed they are from Boston College Fund Raising Team.

(1) They callled me several times in almost every day until I finally pick up the phone (sometimes as early as 6AM or late as 9PM)
(2) They ask for donations and when I said "No" they were literally begging
(3) When I still said "No" they became rude and hung up on me
(4) All other BC phone numbers start with 617-552

617-641-1856 is the number for their fundraising team.

Yet another call from this number.  I did not answer.  They did not leave a message.  I am going to block the number.  I constantly get calls from them at all hours of the day.

They are relentless. Really disgusting. Between self, spouse and children, we get requests from several colleges. BC is annoying and disrespectful.Even worse is their institute of Theology and Ministry. I had a caller challenge my faith. Really pathetic and rude

I agree! With all the robocalls these dwys, theydbe better off saying who they are since it’s actually legitimate. Hanging up and not leaving a message is unprofessional abd makes me not want to give back.

Really annoying, They usually call right when we are having dinner, or just before 9 o'clock at night. I have always made an annual gift to BC, but I won't do that again. Pestering the alumni like this is out of character for a great school like BC.
