Called about an account from 2000 that may or may not have belonged to me.

Did not pick up.  Caller ID showed call from Hutchinson, KS.  Received numerous calls from same area from Debt Collection Co so I feel this is a scam (I don't have any outstanding debt).

Portfolio recovery..debt collection for Capital One

Filed a complaint about these people and their continued harassment, to no avail.  I have never owned a Capital One card and have no old or unpaid debt, yet they call nearly everyday on a different number.  I keep blocking, but eventually my phone has no more available room!  It's maddening that these people are allowed to keep harassing and there is never an attempt to put it in writing and send it via US Mail.

Had gotten a call from that number. They never left a message so it mustn't be important. I'd ignore them.

My friend recieved a call from this number stating that her husband has a $2000 outstanding debt to Best Buy. Funny thing is they track their credit and he has absolutely NO blemishes on it at all. Plus he doesn't ever remember having a Best Buy card. So simply I believe this is a scam and people need to watch out for them.

Looking for previous phone owner.

They keep calling,  asking for an old boyfriend!  I've had to block  their number!

Answer the phone politely. Demand (politely) they state their first and last name, to whom their exactly calling for (first and last name), what company their representing and exactly why their calling. This is required by the FCC for ALL companies to do. Upon requesting this information (required within first 30 seconds of call) if they cut you off, get rude or do anything that bothers or upsets you, blow a whistle in the phone and than hang up. They called you, you didn't call them. They harassed and upset you. They threatened you. I've done this hundreds of times over 20 years in 13 states, trust me, it solves the problem.

15 year old cell phone bill

Received this call , tried to collect for a Dell computer dept . I don't have a debt with them or own a Dell
When I asked them to send me what they are talking about in writing, they said they don't have anything to send now! They said they sent me a lot of letters, I said not one letter was received, you have the wrong person . Then she told me , to send all my info to this address if this is a dispute ! Yeah right ! that's when I hung up !

I received a call from 6208600202, the caller didn't leave a message.

It's from Portfolio Recovery, a debt collection company. Don't answer, don't talk to them. In California the statue of limitations to sue over debt is 4 years. After 4 years, they can't collect. And after 7 years, it is no longer on your credit report. Screw them. They are calling me on an 8 year old debt. hahaha!

finally answered the phone. portfolio recovery on 2007 mastercard debt. told them i never have had one. they knew the last four of my social. i told them they were not even close. but, they were spot on. is this a scam?

Called about an electric bill from 9 years ago that was paid. Immediately asked for my bank account and routing number. Scam for sure! Be careful my friends.
