Calls and leaves no message, no company ID just that it's from Hutchinson, KS

just started getting calls from this number

Its a debt collector

Chances are, another lame attempt by Portfolio Recovery, though no one answers when I pick up the phone. BLOCKED.

I was right. Calling this number back resulted in "Thank you for calling Portfolio Recovery".

I got this call on my cell phone and I didn't recognize the number, which my caller ID says originates in Hutchinson, Kansas.

When I answered there was a short pause then a woman came on the line and said something like, "Hello, I'm Ms Annoying Caller, calling on a recorded line."  She then asked for someone with an Indian sounding name.  Never been associated with anyone like that, unless you count going into my local 7-11.

I've read the posts from others who say this is a debt collection company trying to collect on ancient debts, which could be true, however I've had my number for about 15 years now so they would have to be going WAY WAY back!!   Typical action from a bottom-of-the-barrel debt collection company.

This is another of a zillion phone numbers for Portfolio Recovery, a scumbag bottom of the barrel feeder.  They buy old debts and threaten to sue you, foreclose on your house and every other ting they can think of doing to scare you.  Guess what I just tell them they are SOL meaning 'Statute of Limitations" applies in most states and if they don't have an original signed contract from you and the company they are trying to collect from even if the statute hadn't passed they cannot collect a dime.  I consulted a lawyer because these scumbags were trying to collect money from me that my ex-husband owed.  I have been divorced from him for 20 years.  Block their calls on your phone.  Answer the phone, tell them politely you are not the person they are calling and don't call again.   Write down the date, time, phone number and persons name if they give it to you.  If they call again do the same.  After 5 calls you can collect money from them for harassment.

Thanks for letting me know who this scum bag is.
They are reaching for the bottom of the barrel.
With the economic woes in this country, they should be ashamed. so many people working two and three jobs, trying not to file for welfare, and they are truly disgusting.  God help honest, working, folks, who are not living on food stamps, Section 8 housing, etc. These people should be awarded, as I'm seeing too much welfare fraud in this country.  Unfortunately, those of us who are working two and three jobs, are paying for the scumbags who are taking advantage. I'm tired of paying taxes on a phone bill so people can have free "Obama Phones", "Free computers", expensive cars, etc. The nonsense has to stop!  The collection folks need a job too, but many of these collection companies are located outside the USA. Try India, Indonesia, etc.  This is why the USA is in such dyer shape.  They can't even hire American Collectors!

Lot of us are answering these calls but saying nothing just so that they have to get someone to answer the phone on their end. It costs them money to have someone answer and if everyone answers their calls (put the phone on mute so they can't hear you) their business model will be ruined and they will quickly go out of business, screwing them and their investors.
