They will never leave a message, as most debt collection agency.  They have several numbers all over the US as well as toll free numbers.  They are trying to collect debts for various companies, mainly credit cards debt.  If you ever had a credit card debt, whether its been settle or paid off in the last 10+ years.  They will continue to call you, hoping for you to answer and listen.  Sometimes its automated message asking you to call a toll free number or a live person the will hang up on you if you give them a piece of your mind.  They still continue to call, no matter what.  Best to not answer, ignore unknown numbers, especially not local to your area. You can't block them or get them to stop through any of those "Do Not Call" listing programs.

Maybe by not leaving messages they are respecting your Data Protection laws.          Wouldn't that be a good thing?

Stop calling us.  This is a private, unpublished number. We don't answer phone calls from unknown sources.  You are wasting your time. We are on the national do not call list because of you.

Call this afternoon.  No message.  Isn't Portfolio Recovery the collection agency that lost that multi-million dollar lawsuit a couple years ago?

You would think, as a debt collection agency, they would at least leave a voicemail.  Some of us don't answer un-known numbers... for various reasons.  However, that means if we do have a debt that we are unaware of that has gone to collections, we will continue to not know about it unless they LEAVE A VOICEMAIL!  This just goes for ALL COLLECTION AGENCIES!!!  ********If you ACTUALLY want to resolve the debt with the debtor, then you need to make every avenue available to that debtor... and this includes a call back number, or even a "why you were calling"....

Got yet another call from this number today. I've received multiple phone calls and snail mail from Portfolio Recovery, saying I owed $692.00 to a hospital I've never been to. They told me I needed to write a letter and have it notarized, if I wanted to challenge the debt. I said "No, YOU prove to ME that I owe it". Never got anything...just more endless phone calls.

Yep, another Portfolio number.  They must own more numbers than any company in the world.  I guess using VOIP they can get all the numbers they want but what a waste of resources.

What you can do is assign them a "no ring" and you don't know and don't care when they call. There must be a great deal of credit card debt as my friends say they get calls continuously and "they don't owe a thin dime" as they are wealthy.  Our line is a "service dispatch line" and the idiots continue to call.  YOu can't do anything with "stupid"..... I reckon they have to make a living just like everyone else.  What gets me is I've read on Who Calls Me that some of these credit card folks are calling on debts that exceed 10 years. I don't know how they think they are going to collect. Suppose bankruptcy has been filed and settled and they still have the old information?  I agree...just don't pick up the calls. Let them stew in their own stupidity.

People, the "do not call" list only applies to people soliciting goods or a service. It doesn't not apply to surveyors, or debt collectors. It also takes about 6 weeks to get your name on list, plus another 6 weeks to get the updated list to companies. The do not call list doesn't do much. If you really want them to not call, get tele-zapper for your home phone and download an app on you iphone or android. Your phone company can also block numbers for you.

    Sent message to early.

Ive had the same phone number and residence 2 years, never heard anything from these people.

I tried a new tactic: I called back and asked them for "Donna's" information and how to get in touch with her.  He hung up, and now, apparently, I turned the tables and became the scumbag who collects or steals from decent people.

Out of principle, the fact anyone did call and intimidated me -- playing head games or anything else is on the table. Call them using Google phone a hundred times!

Portfolio Collection Agency keeps calling me from different telephone numbers, all from out of my area code.  They are a pain in the ass.  I don't owe them any money and they are trying to collect on debts over the statute of limitations.

Screw them, I hope their phone bill just keeps running up without any reward to them.

    Drop dead Portfolio.

Yep, the mutts rang my wife last night. She didn't answer and as soon as her phone quit vibrating, they hit mine. Also didn't answer and, of course, they didn't leave a message on either call. I'm going to keep letting them waste their time cause i'm not paying anyone any more. I'm out!

I keep getting calls from them also, tell them that they have in collections, and they did a charge off I have no money.   They keep asking for money.    I just don't answer the phone if I don't know the number.   For this past month I was scammed by another caller stating they were from Yahoo.
