Someone from ARA Financial called today claiming that I owed a debt from an auto financing company.  Strangely enough it was a company that I did have a loan with however it was paid off and I have proof from the company that the lien was satisfied.  He claimed that I owed several thousand dollars and was offering me the opportunity to "work something out" with him before they proceeded to legal action.  His claim was that in my auto loan I agreed to allow them to garnish my wages for non-payment and if I worked something out now "and took this seriously" then I could avoid the garnishment.  He asked me to verify the last four digits of my SSN, which I did not do. When I asked him to provide me with proof and verification of the debt, he told me that "they weren't going to play the paperwork game" with me.  I asserted that I needed to be provided verification that I had a debt with his company and started to give me some story about them being a third-party and that they were just acting as an intermediary to help me avoid the wage garnishment and legal action.  He was getting more irate and yelling at me at this point.  I continued to ask for verification and he said that if I didn't "take this seriously and work something out" with him, I would "be served papers at my place of employment."  At this point, i was yelling as well when I asked him why he was escalating his behavior and now threatening me and engaging in illegal debt collection activity.  At that point he just hung up.

I have received several calls from this number (630-396-8575).  I never answer and no msg is left/  I  have the phone number BLOCKED in my phone (Rugby via ATT), but the number keeps getting around the block.  How is this possible?

These people ae calling me on my cell phone, a number that is limited to family members only, which makes me suspect they either have their numbers transposed or they have mis-dialed me in error. However, this is the second time someone has called from this number.

very rude and annoying lady scam artist calling and hanging up all the time when you call back the rude lady is fishing for information fraud alert report them to local attorney general of IL.

don't know why I get these calls and I don't answer them.  They call all hours and all days of the week.

I am not sure how to protect myself from the annoying phone calls.....

This exact thing just happened to me not 5 minutes ago!!! The caller was sweating me and I started laughing and he really started getting rude! I said well ok I'm going to go now bye. He was still running his mouth when I hung up! The name of the "collector" was different though but the phone number was the same

These people are "fishing."  They claimed I owed 8 grand to citi bank and said we could settle for 3 out of court.  I told them if they can get my number then they can find my address and to send me a summons.  They said the card was opened up when I was 16.  FALSE!

Same as me, they won't stop calling me. They call me almost every week now for four years.

Received 3 calls from these turkeys. 1st one on June 22 at 11:322 am, 2nd on June 24, at 8:52am, and
last one on June 25 at 9:36 am which I happened to answer. A man claiming to be an attorney asked for me by my previous married name, and said I owed some debt on a credit card from over 14 years ago. I said I knew nothing of it, but if it were true the statute of limitations was up and it was uncollectable anyway. He said I was being very rude and said I was being sued. I told him to talk to my attorney, gave him his name and number and hung up. It was very upsetting to hear this abuse on the phone. But now having learned there are other people who have had this happen, makes me mad, and determined to bring these [***] to justice for the laws they broke.

these people call me saying,that I owe them ,money from 1996,from a bank,they did not know my last name,and wanted money from me and I said no,he said see you in court,i said by,dont give these people your money,let them sent you a bill statement saying that you owe them,and the reason,dont give them your address,if they got your name they should have your address, don't fall for these people.

Called me and said I have a cc debt from 25 yrs ago allegedly that they want me to settle.I have no recollection of this supposed debt and asked for proof.not sure they are a legitimate company.

The exact thing just happened to me!  All the info they had on me was from 1988!  I told the lady I never had a card to this place of business.  She said it was in my current name and I replied, "Well, that's a neat trick since I didn't marry until 1991!"  Lol  She got very irate at this point and I told her I wanted copies of the original paperwork with my signature.  She mumbled something about she would get it together and send it!  She said there would be a judgement against me and that she was marking it as a refusal to pay.  I said she should make sure she added because it isn't mine.  She hung up in a huff.  Jerks!  Watch out, people.
