when i answered, they called me by a shortened version of a name I do not use, knew they didn't know me, when I asked what they wanted, they hung up

This happened on 10/03/2009.

Caller id 630-749-1661, 4 rings, answering machine picked up, no message.

called back and operator said this person not accepting calls at this time. shady bizness probably.

Wanted money for poor children, he said it was from the  blah blah police association

no message,    elmhurst  landline,   9:15  am  on a saturday.

they want money for "terminally ill children"  won't take no for an answer, and keep telling you how these poor children need your help.  don't answer.  Tracking them down and filing a complaint with IL Atty Gen office and BBB.

Received call at 2017 CST.  Fellow sounded drunk.  Asked what he wanted, and he indicated "little kids with medical problems need your help'.  I told him I donate my time to LaRabida and money to the Catholic church via Little Sisters of the Poor, and he muttered something in Urdu.  He burped and then hung up.

could hear in the back ground that caller was in a call center enviroment.  They are wanting money for ill children.  I am all about helping children and want to know who I am helping, not some liar on the other end of the phone!

Called my house at 8:30am...phone rang and rang.  I was sleeping.  Had to get up to get it cause it would not stop.  Tried to call back the number, went to busy.  If it was legit, they dont start calling house til 9am, especially on a Saturday.

Incessant calls, all times of day and evening.  Cannot call them back, goes to busy.

Received a call from 630.749.1661 just few minutes ago saying that they are from a police association asking donation if I prefer $12 or $25.  I am kind of skeptical and so I answered just sent me anything via mail and have a look at it.  This guy on the other line said: "you sound so skeptical" and did say a lot of words but didn't bother to understand it. He was so quick and turned the phone in to a lady who I believe getting information.  The lady confirmed my address for some reason, they knew it.   If I do recall it, the same person called our phone # 6 or 3 mos. ago.  Where do I have to report this issue?  Should I report it to the nearest police district? Please advise.

Got a call last night 11/02/2010, stating they were from the Kane County Sheriff’s department asking for donations for needy kids.

The holidays are coming and now we am bombarded with this calls again.  Just got another one from this number.  Picked it up and they hung up.  I made a list of the numbers that seem to be bogus and/or nuisance calls, left it by the kitchen phone, and told the family not to pick them up!
