They have called me 12 times, it is a bill from 1996 I told them that the Statue of Limitations has ran out

There are no statues of limitations on a debt. Who ever told you that was wrong. It can haint you for the rest of your life

Actually, it depends on the state, but there ARE state statutes of limitation on debt in most states. It varies from state to state. A debt over 10 years old is beyond any statute I've heard of.

an attorney told me that there is a statute of limitations on a debt.. it is 10 yrs unless you make a payment toward that debt..then the 10 yrs starts back over.. could be different for different states

Called me twice this AM.  I called the number back and asked them why they were calling.  Debt collector for the chick who used to have my cell phone # before me ...... 8 years AGO !!   They are now on the blocked list.

This Is A Good Collection Company. They Have Offered Me A Very Good Deal On My Very Old Debt That Was For My Medical It Was Due From {Year} 1997 Which I Made Plan To Not Pay Them But This Company as Offered Me Very Good Deal & I Paid Them That Settlement Amount  My Bill Was For $850

Don't talk to them! That is considered " new negotiation" and the limitation time starts all over.

1) ask who they are.  2) do not confirm your identity. 3) inform them that your number is a "do not call" number.  4) good bye.

Called me today, claim to be electricity/gas company ESCO Empower. Offered me to save money if I change from ConEd. Started asking personal information, when I asked where he got my number, he said that it was randomly selected...FISHY. my number is registered on national do not call list.

Received a call today...no message left.

Yes, this happened to me today. The guy said he was from Con Edison. I never had a ConEd account in NY, so it was fishy. He wouldn't ask me questions and then started sexually harassing me over the phone. The return number is disconnected.

This idiot called me ystdy asking for the fake name i use to be listed which was a red flag then asked about a con edison acct. told him to remove me from list.

Idiots have called me nine times in the past month on my cell phone (a number I've had for close to a decade). Never says what he wants. I call him an idiot most times. This morning he actually called back after I told him he was an idiot, and asked me to repeat what I'd just said. I patiently explained that he was an idiot all over again.

There's usually noise in the background when they call, so it's almost certainly a cube farm of similar telemarketers/scammers.

I received a call from this number today. The caller claimed to be a rep from ConEd but the caller and the call definitely sounded foreign. When I asked "Who are you looking for?" The reps response was "You!" I said "Who are you looking for?!" and he just said "You!" again. I hung up. Sounds like a scam to me. My good friend has worked at ConEd for over 10 years and she says it's another company trying to scam customers. Do not give them any of your info.

Received a call from this number.  The female caller spoke to me in heavily accented English and said she worked for a company that supplied fuel for Con Edison and that my bill would be lowered every month.  Then she asked me for my Con Ed account number.  I hung up on her.  Caller ID said that the number came from Mastic.

Yes, there are statues of limitations on debts!  Every state has different rules as far as how many years but yes, there absolutely is a period where if a debt isn't paid it is legally written off.  It's true!
