Slight Indian accent going by the name of Eric Smith called telling me that I was chosen to receive a special Verizon - Phone, TV and internet package.  He asked what kind of package that I had and I told him he should know.  This appeared to me to be a scam - but it sounded like he was content to know that I was a Verizon customer.   Perhaps to look into my records?

Just received a call from 645-781-2458 with caller ID showing "name unavailable".  The young man said that he was a Microsoft trained engineer and wanted to talk to me about my computer.  I told him that I did not own a computer.  He said "you don't own a laptop" and I said "no".  He said he would make a note of that.  Hmmmmmmm

I got a call tonight from this number. The directory showed "out of area". The caller sounded like an Indian and asked me if I get error messages in the computer and I answered that it happens once in a while. He told me that the error messages can cause my computer to go out and that he belongs to a company that fixes the problems. I told him that I was not interested in dealing with somebody I don't know and if I have a problem I deal with Dell. He kept on insisted until I hanged up on him.

I think it is a scam that ask you for a credit card number with a promise to repair your computer. I never deal with companies with no name on the directory. Besides, I never give my credit card number over the phone.

I just received a call from this number.  The caller was obviously "Indian" and said he was a computer tech who was calling to help resolve problems with my computer.  He had my name, phone number and address - all correct.  I asked him how he knew I had problems and he said reports have been received.  Of course I do know that reports are sent to Microsoft but have no way of knowing if he's a recipient or represents MS.  He kept asking me to turn on my computer and said he would walk me through the steps to resolve the problem.  I kept pressing him on who he worked for and where was he located.  He suddenly started saying, "can you hear me", "are you still there sir" and while I repeated I was there he seemed to not acknowledge and so I hung up.  Seems fishy.

Received a call form a man with an accent. He told me that my computer was infected with malicious viruses. He suggested that I start my computer and he would show me how to fix the problem.
I told him I had no issues and was not interested.

Called to "fix my computer" from "tech support".  I laughed and strung him along a bit (I have Macs and LInux boxes mainly).  He finally got flustered and hung up.  Hope I wasted "Nick's" time.  Heavy Indian accent.

I pretended to go along for a long time, and I hope I wasted their time. Indian accept; wanting me to download remote software from TeamViewer.com to "fix my error messages" (I of course have none). I got him to say he was with FixMyComputerDude.com but who knows. I'd say this does nothing except prey on old senile folks who don't know computers at all. IMMORAL AND SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a phone call tonight, while playing on my computer. Heavy Indian accent told me that he is calling to help me with my SLOW computer. Oddly enough, i did have a slow running computer. I asked him how did he know, and he said that I must have clicked on a pop up that said to click if you are having issues with slow computer usage. (I did not click on anything). .. he said that he can help me fix my computer right now. I asked him how, and he said that if I just open up Windows explorer, he can get me started right away.
I asked him if I can call him back on his number (I was feeling a little suspicious).. he said sure, and gave me a phone number... When I asked him who he was with he said that he worked for a computer maintenance company that works on Microsoft.. I asked him to repeat that so I can write that down, and he seemed aprehensive and then HUNG UP.  The phone number he gave was bogus.
    WOW...

Received a call from 645-781-2458 claiming to be a call back regarding a slow computer.  He said that he called on Monday and I said I was busy and supposedly told him to call back.  He knew my first and last name.  I asked him what company he was with several times.  The first couple of times he said, "We work on windows".  He eventually said TSA.  I then asked him which computer was the issue.  He said, "Any computer."  I asked again.  He said, "Your home computer."  I have multiple systems at home.  Now, I'll let you in on a secret, shhhhh.  I'm a network engineer and work on computers all the time.  I've built and or modified every computer I've ever had and have NEVER called anyone for support except for knowledgeable co-workers that I know personally and trust.  I asked what the scam was and said, "This has got to be a scam."  Amazingly, he hung up.  I did the *69 thing on the phone to get the phone number and found this site.  So, yeah, it's a scam.  Don't EVER let anyone remote control your computer unless YOU have initiated the support call. The support person should be able to clearly identify who he is and what company he works for.
