Man with a heavy accent called and said he received a message from my Windows that there was an error and would I give him access to my pc.  I told him I don't own a pc and he didn't believe me, asked me about 5 times if I was sure there was no pc in my house.  I told him he was a scammer and hung up.  I then called the number back and after it rang about 10 times someone answered with "hello"... SCAM!

I hear the back ground voices of different telemarketers and hung up and add the number to my phone telemarketers group as a scam. So next time hung up the phone promptly without even bother checking who is on the other side.

This number just called and said I had been involuntarily downloading viruses through my IP address. Which makes no sense. They also said they were getting this information grinding international organization. It's a scam, I'm not even sure what they are ultimately after.

I just got a call from this number - same idea - the caller stated my computer IP address was showing that my computer had downloaded files that contained a virus, and he wanted to take me through some steps to fix it. When I questioned him about who he was he said his name was Chris, and he gave me a number to phone (1-855-888-5881), told me he represented Ceylon Tech Support, and gave me a website: www.ceyloninfotech.info. However, he seemed not for real, and I was not satisfied with his responses to my questions - such as, why was he contacting me? I hadn't asked him to call! I then checked out his toll free number on Canada 411, and found my way to this set of posts. It seems as if he's "not for real". No thanks!

I just received the same phone call from Jennifer; call back number 1-855-888-5881.  It seems as if she wanted to take control of my computer through remote access.  I am not a computer guru but it would seem to me that if someone has remote access to my computer that they can get ahold of some important personal information.  When I contacted my IT support at work they confirmed that it was a scam.

I got a call from Sonali who claims she is from the company Ceylon Technical support that does the support work for Microsoft (Lie#1).  She said my computer is refusing to take updates (Lie #2)and I should get on my computer right away and she will tell me how to fix the problem.  If I don't, my computer will slowing die away and everything will be lost.  I asked for her name and number and I will call her back. She gave me a number 1-855-888-5881 which she claims to be a toll free number. (Lie #3) .Conclusion: A liar is not to be trusted!

I was contacted by a man with a thick accent saying that he was from a ( couldn't catch the name ) tech support who works with windows and was saying that my computer was not accepting the updates from windows.  201-491-0749 was the number, I told him that I just updated last night and everything was fine, he insisted that there was hidden corrupt files in my computer that would slowly make it stop working, I asked to speak to a supervior/manager and got Justin, he gave me a phone number (1-855-888-5881) to call back when I got to my computer to help me figure out why my Windows wasn't accepting any updates.  I typed in that 1-855 number into google to see if it was a scam, and to my shock ( not at all)

I started receiving phone calls routed from Las Vegas (702) 218-6034* (pick 4 numbers they keep changing with every call) and got the same song and dance about Microsoft update problems.

I rarely use Word at home and have certainly not had the issues they are attempting to con me into. I am also familiar with the scam as they or someone similar conned my mother a year ago.

THIS IS A PHISHING SCAM!!! They are trying to ferret your personal information. Under NO circumstances should anyone EVER give out information or control of their computer. If you are having issues, contact the software company directly. If they can't help you, they can usually direct you to a reputable tech service that can.

I just got the same phone call as all of you, here In NB, Canada... stated my computer was not updating and he could help me fix it... instead of following his prompts to get controlled of my computer, I looked up this site... he said he was based out of Texas, yet when I told him he was in Manhatten NY, he said yes thats where I am but our office is in Texas... I hung up and contacted my service provider who confirmed ceylon is not a sub contracted company of theirs....SCAM

I was contacted by a Chris with a thick accent saying that he was from Ceylon tech support who Support Microsoft bast systems and was saying that my computer was not accepting the updates from windows. when i asked how does he know that? Chris told he could show me, if i was willing to share my screen with him, so i refused. To my surprise he just told me OK and said why dont you check for your self- told me the steps and i was surprised to see what was happening to my updates and why i kept getting the update popup again and again.... he said that the reason.
Chris then said he would want me to check one more file and doesn't want me to share my screen so i agreed and there it was all the files that i never knew were on my system , which were slowing down my system. Then the best part he said he wanted to scan my system and check for errors for which he wanted me to share my screen.... and i refused.
I said let me think and call you back.
4 days later i called on the toll free 1-855 number and a lady answered called Sandra... when i asked for Chris she said he is not in yet. So i told her that my computer is giving me problem she very promptly said are you a member with us , i said no she said OK lets see what can be done. Again she asked if i am willing to share my screen i said what the heck let me give it a try. She asked me to go to a 123 website and download a small file and gave me a code to type in. then i could see her using my mouse and said with your permission i would run a scan and see what needs to be fixed.
She completed the scan told me all the problem areas and explained everything which was to my surprise was logically correct. Then she told me the scan was free and for for fixing it there is a charge so i asked how much, she asked what would i want to go for she took me to their website and showed me all the plans, they are cheap ... for  1 year its just $159.99 that about 40 cents a day .... so i took the plan.
She not only fixed it but also gave me the 1-855 number again and said to call back after 2 months to get my computer checked and serviced.
I am glad i took the plan and am happy.... its not a scam ... i would recommend it ... i took one for my mom's laptop aswell.
    she is happy as well.

    Cheers .....
Enjoy it .... not a scam.

My mum just called me in the middle of being scammed by these thieving [***]!

A quick google lead me here and I quickly got her to end the scam call. Now though my Mum has god knows what on her computer. I've told her to write down everything that they asked her to do and download and then take the computer to a local friendly PC Repair place. I'm currently living hours away so I can't really help. Hopefully nothing to damaging has been done.

Thanks for putting up all this info you saved my Mum a lot of trouble down the line and money!
