Caller had heavy accent, asked about a windows update and told them to take me off the call list... they hung up! This is scam

These are the heavily-accented people who call to say they are from Windows (like Windows ever cold-calls anyone) and your computer is showing flags on their system.  IT IS A SCAM.  It is also a plague on naive computer users as they offer to access the computer remotely to "fix" it (at which time they infect the computer with malware) and/or offer expensive alleged protection plans which, if one attempts to cancel, subjects one to debt-collection tactics to "encourage" further payments be made.

This info comes from articles in online computer magazines (not personal experience), so do NOT buy into anything they say.  They also constantly spoof numbers, so blocking them has little effect (I do it anyway) as they simply call on another number, sometimes immediately after the first call.  This I HAVE experienced personally, and the "gentleman" was quite rude during the second call...

This number keeps calling and they don't say anything.

I blocked the number on my cell.

called my cell, said I had a Windows problem. Kinda strange since I have a mac.

Someone calling saying that they have detected errors on my windows machine.  Obviously a scam so I hung up right away.

Caller had a heavy Indian-type accent

Very persistent.  Called multiple times today.  Different pitches each time.
Last time said a non-profit organization. Blocked calls from this #. Now  they
can't bug me again.

same same as others but caller ID Hit as Ross, David that is a new tactic. What do they call 100,000 to get one naïve enough to fall for this.  I told the guy to get a real job and quit being a slimy thief. Believe it or not I think it hit a nerve, he was pretty mad.  This site needs to add scam or phishing to the drop down.

They keep calling me using different phone numbers offering Windows update. I blocked the number.

This person is a pest that can't speak English. I have hung up before finding out what his scam is.

Keep calling me every day 3 or 4 times. They say I have an error in computer they want to help me remove. They say they are from Microsoft contractor

This is definitely a scam. They say they have detected problems from Windows on my computer for the past 2 days and that there is an active virus infecting it. I let them go on and on and then asked the lady all kinds of random questions. Finally I asked her when she would be sending me my computer. She acted all confused-- I told her that if she was detecting viruses on MY computer she must have it since I didn't have one and that I thought she was sending me one once she had the problems cleared up on it. She immediately hung up on me. I hope people don't fall for this scam. I love that I wasted her time for a little while, though.

From Microsoft my computer has been infected and so on.    I told him to hold on and I would get him the IT guy and then he started talking about my son and that he was not in a safe place and to not try anything funny.     I didn't react outward it would be a waste of time I just kept telling him to hold on and I would get the IT guy so he could talk to him and get the issue fixed.    Oh man that pisses me off.    I am not sure about Karma but if there is any thing to it I hope she is a real [***] and pays this scammer a visit.

Scam artists

Receiving frequent calls "Unavailable" which I don't answer.  No msg is left and they continue to call.  This is extremely  irritating! !!!!!!!

calls about every 2-4 hours day and nite.

Repeated, persistant calls.  Our Rule # 1! Do not pick up unknown #'s.  Only checked VM.  No message left, caller stayed on lne for over thirty second and said nothing. Tons of household background noise...but no message left. Creepy little......

I have been receiving many calls from area codes that I do not know.  Refuse to accept any at all now.
