Report a phone call from 646-798-8989 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- VioletI suspect, this being an election year and all, that it's some sort of political action committee trolling for votes. :) Didn't bother answering - if they're legit, they will leave a message.
- wren| 4 repliesCalled this at 10:40 a.m.--didn't answer, and they left no message.
Re: previous comment re: 646-798-8989: you're dreaming if you think this is a campaign/political call... - jeannie replies to wren| 3 repliesI have been constantly harrassed for many months with at least 20 calls a day, some calling at least 2-3 times until I finally had to shut off my answering machine. I'm recuperating from a surgery and trying to get my work done which I do at home. The constant ringing of the phone is extremely frustrating. When I did finally pick up the phone after about 12 rings thinking maybe it was an office of a friend, a computer robot was stating it was a credit card company.
If they all were reputable companies unlike the number I listed, they would have never had to call and harrass the public who annually pays lots of money for phone service. I am on a Do Not Call list. It is I understand a Felony by them calling us, and I think can be a $500 fine if you report it to the police. BUT, if you answer, then push a button they give you to speak to a rep,, they laugh in your face when you tell them the above. Why? For they say "No. I did not call you, you called me by pushing that button." Where are the intelligent Senators and Representative in Congress to pass a bill to formulate Do Not Call then leave loopholes for telemarketers, political harrassing calls, etc.?
My phone must remain published and NOT Unlisted for what I do. It is even an extra $10 ($120.00 Annually) to have caller I.D. now which is another expense females have to pay when they still do not have equal rights and equal pay for their positions. As retirement faces me at this age I don't need extra expenses either.
It is appalling that as they say, "Laws are meant to be broken." That is exactly what they do. We are all able to band together and do something if we sit up and do what we know is right. If enough of us report them to the Police Departments of our communities just maybe they will get something done. "I am only one, but I am one..." and if enough of us become proactive we can make a difference. From one who doesn't need any more stress, Thanks. - Sam replies to jeannie| 1 replyThese guys Card member Services, Card Services, or whatever name they change it to,
have phone numbers through Pacific Telecom Communications located in Los Angeles
California. I was informed by the South Carolina Attorney Generals office that just because
they have an areas prefix, they are not often located in that state. That leaves no one
to complain to of the illegal behavior of this group. Today I filed a complaint against
Pacific telecom Communications. The one that supplies the endless different phone
numbers, this company uses. The Attorney General of your state is also a good one
to file a complaint with. Lets stop these criminals. - jeannie to Sam/Wren replies to SamThank you for your information re: 646-798-8989, I had reported them to the FTC & DoNotCall ofcs.for I believe they sh/be the ones to handle such a legal problem with these harrassing calls.
They called again today, my v.m. is off. It is truly disturbing they can get away with causing such problems for all of us.
I will contact my OH Attorney General's state office to complain also. Yesterday,in checking further re fraud calls I found out the following and contacted them:
To Report Fraud calls contact:
FTC.gov or, 1-877-FTC-HELP
to report violations of the DoNotCall Registry, visit:
DoNotCall.gov, or 1-888-382-1222.
Reporting their fraud call to the FTC.Gov I believe may revoke their licensing if enough people make contact with them and maybe getting our t.v.stations & newspapers involved putting out the names of PTC in Los Angeles along with all these fraud telephone numbers. "The pen is mightier than the sword..." - DeeNo message
- Caller: unknown
- Harry replies to jeanniePushing a button does not start the call. If you are not on the "Do Not Ca'' List", get on it. It does not cost anything. When they call again, as they will, answer as you normally would and get as much info as you can. Then report them to your State Attorney General.
