I received the same this morning. In regards to an item I am selling on eBay. Wants me to give a PayPal account detail and invoice to deposit money. Is this a money Internet scam?

I'm selling two things on Gumtree and I've just got a message from that number too.  I've had scammers on Gumtree before so I'm sure this is one too.

I received the same message overnight, asking for a firm price without mention the item for sale. I am sure it is a scammer too. I have deleted the message. Waste of time really!

I got a weird text message from 16468204917 at 5.30am this morning asking for a firm price about a gumtree item I'm selling. He also didn't mention what item he was asking about. Different email address this time - oconnordes30@hotmail.com

I got 2 of these kinds of texts last night and will be deleting both of them as they are totally suss to me!

I got one as well from 2 different mobiles, both that i cant call back. They used 2 different email addresses. Im really worried because I sent them an invoice.. Have I been scammed?

Got the same typical messages from a desconnor30@gmail.com, realised it was a total scam when he made it complicated and asked that I send a Western Union transfer to some shipping company in Malaysia. SCAM!! warning bells. He also sent a fake Paypal confirmation email to me, however he didn't realise I use a different email for Paypal and so it could not have come from them, also there was no message or money in my account when I logged in.

I emailed him back with a simple "yeah buddy, nice try. Not gonna happen without the cash arriving in my account."

YEP here too. I am selling my car on Gummtree the same email desconnor30@gmail.com.au. He asked about paypal english is good and he offered western union bank transfer. I also got a similar email from a anneelllsonn18@postino.net who wanted to persuade me to make a paypal account..... BEWARE SCAMERS!!

I received an SMS from a so called Desmond.

Here's the message he sent:
"Message to your posted advert on gumtree. Still available for sale? get back to me with the firm price and condition to my personal email Desconnor30@gmail.com."

Did not reply as I could tell it was a scam straight away. Also noticed that the text came with his name instead of the mobile number when I don't have a Desmond in my contact list.
