picked up, and no answer. Has any one or this Website ever found out who they are?

They claim to be "Windows" but are careful to say they are not Microsoft. They have a site: <https://www.advancepccare.com/contact_us.php>.  They also have a 213 (LA) number.

If you go to your computer and let them walk you to where they want you to go, they will do very bad things to you. Unlike with most people who want to do bad things with you, this won't even feel good in the short term and a shower won't help.

They told me my Windows was corrupted and walked me through all these procedures. Of course the outcome was a catastrophic. However, they could fix it if I purchased some sort of security they provide. When I said that I'd never heard of it and couldn't afford it they hung up on me.

Someone from this number called me today and identified themselves as from Microsoft Tech.  They said they were getting messages on the Microsoft server that my computer was being hijacked (or something to that effect) and that they would walk me through a resolution of the problem.  I asked them to give me some verification that they were from Microsoft.  He gave me this phone number and then said he could quote my Microsoft license number (CLS ID).  I typed CMD into the search box.  Then assoc at the command prompt.  A long string of text followed and he told me to look at the line third from the bottom.  I made him read what he had on record.  The number he read matched the number on my computer.  Then he wanted me to type in Eventvwr at the prompt.  That's when I stopped him and said, "Before we go any further, I will need to call Microsoft headquarters in Seattle to verify the number you gave me, your identity, and the purpose for your call."  He said, "Alright, thank you very much Ma'am" and hung up.  I tried to contact Microsoft support but it was taking tooooo much time.  I googled the number instead and found this web page.  I think they were telemarketers.  I just hope that confirming the CLSID wasn't a mistake.

Just got a phone call from William, with a deep Indian accent, trying to get me to do the same thing as others have said.  I asked for his phone number.  646-843-6254. I'm a software developer and have been one for over 15 years.  This scum bag makes me sick.  Watch out for people like this!

This was the number given by the fellow who was saying pretty much the same as others have said. When I said I would check out the number and have it checked out by the police, he hung up.
