If we call, you owe us money. Alternatively, someone may have listed YOU as a "reference" for the account in which case we expect you to point us in the direction of the individual responsible for the money owed to us. We are under NO (legal) obligation to "remove you" from ANY list (or to stop calling you, for that matter) unless and until you WRITE us with the specific request to Stop Calling or Contacting you. Good luck getting any of us to just give you our mailing address.

    Angry at ECMC
Got a call at my place of business from a real idiot at ECMC. He wanted me to give him credit information about one of our employees. I explained that I never give out this sort of info over the phone and he should fax something to me. He kept trying to get me to answer questions and after several attempts on my part to get him to take my fax number I hung up on him. He then called me back to get the information he wanted. I agreed to answer one question which was if I would supply information without a signed release from the person in question and I told him I would not. He  then said in a snarky voice - See that wasn't so hard was it, just give me your address and I will mail something to you? At that point I told him if he didn't even know the address where he was calling he must be phishing and to shove it and hanged up again. Unbelievably, he called back and left a message for my boss demanding that I call him back and apologize. Once my boss heard the details he told me I didn't have to call him back and that the guy was way out of line.

These people are predators - don't give them any information at all!!!

The call is from student loan collection. There is no one on the phone when you answer, just a pre-recorded message to call them. Then when you call them back at the number given you in the message, you get an answering machine to leave your name and phone number so someone can call you back. No one has called me back. They just keep calling with the pre-recorded message to call them.

someone from that number just called me.  I answered & they hung up.  No legit business would do that.  And if they're following up re: a student loan then they're definitely a scam.

    harassed at my job
These calls are from ECMC who are a collection agency for student loans. These people called my cell phone which I didn't answer because I am work. Two seconds later they call my office looking for me! I cannot take personal calls at work. If these people want me to repay my student loan, calling me at work and getting me fired isn't helping their cause any. Morons.

Sound pretty sensitive. Guess you don't like having someone express how you infringe on them. Reality is, the louder you yell, the less ethical you are. you are Phishing & harrassing. You think you are in control, but only have limited guidance & no care for others. Owe money. you mean your company bought a discounted note to try to be an enforcer & threaten someone. No better thatn a loan shark. Don't even follow FCC guidance for no call lists. You have no rights. You try to strongarm your way in, but you really have little power.

To ECMC jerk who says good luck getting the address- dummy if you were so smart you wouldn't be doing collections! As educated individuals we actually know how to research on the Internet!

    Power to the people!!

Get a efax # and have them fax you your account information. Then you can use all the information to file FTC.gov complaint, BBB complaint, attorney generals office and the department of education and SEC.GOV.
Also if they are phishing for info then you should turn them into the DBI and White House secret service (identity theft/homeland security?) and homeland security. Find out how many times a day your state allows them to call etc and file police reports for harassment if they are still calling you after you send them a certified letter!!

ECMC - sounds like you'll be explaining yourself for a while.
Someone get us an attorney do we can all file a "Class action law suit".
I've dealt with MN attorney general- as my cause was forwarded to him from my home states attorney general. We have rights and tax paid help! :)

They are leeches & not following the laws & rules under the FDCPA.  They can threaten all they want but with caller I'd why would anyone be stupid enough to answer the call.  Even if you write them & demand they cease & desist they still call.  They need to be reported to the Atty General for each state.

Hey ECMC HERE IS YOUR DAMN ADDRESS

    P.O. Box 64909 St. Paul, MN 55164-0909

    update your data base Ecmc
I just got this phone and number on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014. A call from this number came in today (Friday the 24th). I always google unknown numbers and wind up here. Now that I know they are jerks I can add them as Rainy Day Fun. Those are the calls that are telemarketers or wrong numbers that I accept if they catch me in the mood to mess with them and waste their time.  Sorry, but if you want to call and harass me because someone skipped on you and didn't give updated contact information then I'll play it out with you.  Your calls will be automatically directed to VM until I feel like playing. These are also the calls I record.  Strange how they hang up after playing with them for 20 minutes and you mention "oh I record my calls".

You're hysterical!  You "expect" a reference to point you in the right direction?  You ABSOLUTELY are LEGALLY obligated to stop calling a reference.  For a collections individual, you REALLY should be more educated on the laws governing debt collection.  The ONLY person who you have ALL rights to contact within the law are the original debtor OR cosigner, provided you follow the guidelines for contact.  You absolutely ARE required to stop contacting a reference if they verbally instruct you to do so.  LMAO - "Good luck getting any of us to just give you our mailing address." Ever heard of Google or Bing, moron?
