- Hunter| 1 replyThis guy called my wife saying that she was having the police pick her up for a payday loan she never paid, maybe because she never had one. She called me very upset, he said his name was Steve Wright, indian accent etc, I called him back and blew him up, needless to say the professional part of him did not come out. ADVISE, I really have never heard of a creatitor he claims to be, starting causing at me without any control at all. I just laughed at him and let him know he is a worthless piece of sh**...hahaha some people just make me laugh. Blow the call off and go back to your normal life.

- NebrJenn replies to Hunter"Jack Trinh", Asian accent, from the "Department of Crime Prevention in California". Caller ID registered number as 0000. Left voicemail stating a legal case had been filed against me and either my attorney or I needed to call him at (661) 240-9230 as soon as possible. He went on to tell me that if my attorney or I did not return his call, he can only wish me luck and pray for me to deal with what is coming to me.
Message was almost identical to ones I received exactly 6 months ago from "Chris Palmer", heavy Middle Eastern accent, at "United States Legal".
This is not legit. Your information has likely been culled from a purchased mailing/call list or hacked from websites you entered your information into.
MY ADVICE:
Call them back, act as if you are truly concerned, get ALL of the information you can about the call, caller & "company": date, time, caller ID number, caller's name, "company" name, supervisor's name, phone numbers, fax number, address, etc., as if you want to resolve the situation & will send them money. Also document what information they have about you (act as if you are "verifying" or "confirming" the info they have on you). Do not GIVE them any other information about you; ONLY find out what information they have about you.
Once you have that information, request that the caller provide you with the proper legal paperwork for said "legal complaint". Again, do not GIVE them any further information about you; they already have it all, right? LOL. Inform the caller that if you do not receive said legal documentation of the alleged legal claim within 5 days (3 days, a week, whatever), you will file reports on them with your local police department, BBB, state patrol, state attorney general, FBI, & FTC. Repeat this several times as likely will be needed because they are very persistent & will try to scare you.
Tell the caller specifically to immediately cease calling your family, friends, employer, & you at any numbers they have: work, home, etc. Again, repeat as necessary, very calmly & firmly.
You will not get any legitimate paperwork. Follow through by filing a report with the listed agencies & any other agencies they recommended.
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, SEND THE CALLER A PENNY!!!
These tactics have worked well for me. Calls did cease immediately...but another company will likely pop-up after 6 months or so using the very same or very similar M.O.
If you have truly had a legitimate legal complaint filed against you, you would be served proper legal paperwork via mail or, more likely, in person by a law enforcement officer. Even if you have moved, make no mistake, they WILL find you & serve you that paperwork!!!
Do not let these scam artists scare you!!!
RESPOND to the call.
RECORD pertinent information.
REPORT the "company".
Rinse & Repeat. :) - GG DallasGot a call from thie 661-240-9230. Actually several voicemails over the course of a couple of days to my home phone. This person has called before and my son dealt with him. The get very flustered when the pressure is put back on them. My daughter, who is an assistant to an attorney, returned a call to the number once before and insisted on speaking to the named person, and they wouldn't connect her, gave one excuse after another and then finally hung up on her.
My son even asked them had they ever spoke to me at that number before, and when they said no, he asked them "What makes you think you will this time then?" It is curious that they are calling asking for me by name at a number that isn't even listed under my name or a name similar to it.- Caller: Department of Crime Prevention in California
