- flexCaller said "Hi Grandpa, remember me?"
I told him that I don't have any grandchildren.
He said, "You don't remember me?"
At that point I hung up.
Looks like a scheme where the next thing would be him saying that he was trapped in some foreign city and needs funds to get home. - TJG-San Jose, CAWasn't able to answer in time.
When calling the number, it answers with a recording, telling you that the number has been hacked. - BSH - Virginia Beach, VAJust called - Caller said "Hi Grandma" and I said pardon me, you must have the wrong number and he said "Why". Immediately hung up. When calling the number, it answers recording says the number has been hacked and to report the call to the police. Call them and there is nothing they can do.
- Another hoaxCalled up and said "Grandma, this is your grandson".

Found drugs in trunk but cab driver is known for this but won't cop to it. I need $1400 dollars to get out. Was at American embassy and had to go before judge. Needed to leave right now.

- SCPerson called my grandmother, said that he was me. Used my full name and said that I was her oldest grandson (which is correct). He said "I" was in the Domincan Republic and had been involved in an automobile accident. "I" needed money right away. My grandmother questioned him about why he didn't call my parents ("I tried")...why his voice sounded strange ("I have a broken nose")...finally, she asked him his birthday and he hung up.

- AnnonymousUnknown caller reached out to my grandparents stating she was their granddaughter. Since their two other female grandchildren live nearby and I have a very different accent than them, they replied, "XXX?" (my name). The caller said yes, and then started to explain the situation above that other people have commented on.... The Dominican Republic. Car accident. Don't tell my parents. Blah blah blah. Send money. Blah blah blah. My grandparents were suspicious and called my father immediately, who then called me. I was safe at home, drinking my coffee and watching the morning news. After doing some research we realized the phone 661-699-7576 is from a suburban LA area and that these people are MOST DEFINITELY scamming older people. How absolutely disgusting! How do we file a police report? This is an absurd situation!

- San Jose-AnnonymousPhone call from below number to my grandmother pretending to be my cousin. The caller explained that she traveled to the Dominican Republic and was in a horrible accident, in the hospital and going to be arrested if she did not pay $1,300.00 dollars. She swore my grandmother to secrecy. My grandmother explained that if she could not tell anyone, she could not help her and the caller said that she would have to call my grandmother back. This is disgusting that there are people taking advantage of our elderly.

- Mr. GarciaSupposedly my grand daughter was in an accident and had stitches on her mouth, spoke to her, she was crying, couldn't talk very well due to the "stiches" , need $ for attorney to release her from a court obligation, blah blah blah, "please don't tell my parents" and asked for 2000, asked to be wired to phone number in the DR 829-472-2262, to call up until midnight and only a wire would work....etc. ALL BS of course, my granddaughter was at work in Rhode Island!
- Caller: Said they were DomRep EMBASY
- SusanMy mother received a call from a young woman who addressed her as Grandma. The girl told my mother that she had gone to the Dominican Republic with a friend who was getting married there and that they were involved in a car accident with injuries. She said because she was driving, she was in trouble and being held at the American Embassy. She would need $2000 to straighten everything out, but "Grandma" was not to tell anyone. My Mother, knowing her granddaughter was out of state and out of touch with us, became very upset. But just because my mom's older, doesn't mean she's not sharp! She was suspicious because the voice did not sound quite right. The girl explained it was because of the stitches in her lip from the accident. My mother then asked what the girl's Grandpa's name was. Silence. Finally, my mother asked to speak with an official at the embassy. Click. Call ended. Be careful out there!
- B J COMPTONCalled SEP 29 at 11:01 AM, Caller ID had "Cell Phone CA". Caller said "Hello, Grandpa, this is your eldest grandson Eugene. I'm on my way to the wedding." Since there was no wedding, I said "Who are you?" Caller answered "Grandpa, what's the matter with you?" I called my wife to the phone and caller was unable to answer a simple question, which I won't repeat here. Caller then hung up. And my wife called the Cherry Hill, NJ police (non emergency). An officer came to the house.

- Antioch Resident| 1 replyMy elderly mother answered the phone and the caller said "Hi Grandma" so she assumed it was my son-in-law. Told the exact story as others here -- in the Dominican Republic for a friend's mother's wedding, in a taxi, drugs were found and need to wire $1200. She handed me the phone when they said they were transferring her to the US Embassy. I listened, took down all the information, and then asked them to verify my son-in-law's name. They "looked in the file" and then kept saying he would call me after the hearing. I said I will not wire money unless I have verification of name. They hung up. I called the number they gave me just for kicks, and it was answered "US Embassy". That number is 820.513.9610. I said we got cut off, and he said "yes we did" and hung up on me. Called my son-in-law and he is at home!
