Got a call from this number today, December 21, 2008
When I answered the caller hung up the phone.
I know that I've previously told this organization to put my number on the "Do Not Call" list and it looks like they have violated that directive.  I believe they are now liable for some type of compensation back to me but have to track down the law that says so.

Called the number listed in the notes above (704-331-9075) and asked to be taken of the list.  Person on the other end of the line took my name and number and said they would remove our number from the listing.  Person on the other end of the phone stated they were calling for the Charlotte Fire Fighters Association.  Stated they were affiliated with the Charlotte Fire Department but when asked specifically regarding that affiliation the person stated they worked for the Charlotte Fire Department and were not actually part of the official government entity.  Asked why my previous directive to "Put my number on the Do Not Call listing" was being ignored by this orgainzation but the person on the other end of the phone could not answer that question.

Yep, got TONS of calls from this dumb number. Every day I get a hangup on my answering machine or they hang up on me when I pick up! Okay, so they miss maybe twice a month or so, but really!! Just called 7043319075 and they were very polite. It'll be nice not to have to hit DELETE every day. Dumb thing would add 4-5 blank messages when we went on vacation! We got a "used" ph# assigned to us when we moved to the area 5 years ago, and this has been happening nonstop. The previous "owner" of the number must have fallen for the donation routine. You'd think that after years of coming up dry, they'd give up! Not these folks! VERY glad I found this post.

Called 704-331-9075 and asked that they remove my number.  The person there asked for my name and number.  I'm not sure why they needed my name, but I have both.  I asked for the name of whom I was speaking to.  He gave it very reluctantly (John Love).  We'll see.

Call comes in from 704-248-9016 several times a week. When I answer they hang up.

calls everyday and never leaves a message.when I do answer they say nothing.They also use the # 704-257-6218. I was told that if you dont answe after they call ten times that they want call again but you need to leave your answering machine off for this to work.

Someone needs to call the real Charlotte Fire Department and ask them if this is legit. A legitimate fundraising organization doesn't call and hang up based on the sex of the person answering the phone.

I just received the call.  Someone said something.  I said, "Pardon?".  He hung up.  I called 704-331-9016, as suggested.  A lady named Taylor answered and was very pleasant.  She said my # would be removed, "no problem".  Thanks.

got a call from this number today and they HU. i called it bk and it just rang and rang for approx 1 min or more b4 i finally HU.

I keep getting this call two with nothing but dead air. FYI that AOL address is a spammer phishing.

After being in contact with the Charlotte FBI offices I've learned that this is a automated system used by scammers to steal credit information. They go under Charlotte Fire Fighters and some other organizations. Report it to them and you might help them track these people down.

EVEY EVENING I GET A CALL WHEN I ANSWER THEY WAIT AND THEN HANG UP

Got a call from this number today(not the first time). When the man asked if we could donate something I told him to send me an envelope and I would see what I could do. He said that he would "throw in" tickets to some concert they were having. A second later I got another call from 704-376-8204. The lady said she wanted to confirm that I was giving a donation in addition to the concert tickets I agreed to purchase.....WHAT?!?!? I told her they were being thrown in and I was not paying for anything. She said that by law I had to pay for them. So, after hearing an earful from me about how they are scam artists and speaking to her manager, I was removed from the list and will not be receiving a donation envelope or those stupid tickets!

Received a call from this number and he said he was checking if the smoke alarm was working since they were incidents in the neighborhood.

got a call... answered... no one answered I called back got a busy signal, then called back and no one answered.

This caller calls several times a week over last several months.  Never leaves a message.  Today he refused to identify himself and hung up on me.  When I called the number back, he refused to pick up. Do I call the police?

Just got call from this number and called back to confirm email address @aol is bogus.

Right after I talked to someone at that number, she called back and said that only 58% of the members of the Firefighters Association at www.cffa660.org were Charlotte Firefighters. (600 of ll00 members).

How do I confirm that this organization DOES NOT have legal exclusion from the National and North Carolina no call list?

I have been receiving calls from this number since November!  I also receive them from another Charlotte number:  704-927-2275.  I have ignored them because I knew what they were. And they were so annoying and irritating because it was usually at bedtime or mealtime!  Today I answered at 1 p.m. without checking caller I.D.  It was the 2275 number.  He said they didn't want money just checking to see if the batteries in my smoke detector had been changed.  I assured him they were...he started to ask for money!  I told him I was done and hung up.
