A rep left a VM on my phone with a 1-800 call back number. It was regarding Wachovia Visa acct. Sounds like they were trying to reach an existing customer, but got the number wrong.

I got a call today regarding activity on my Wachovia Visa, but I don't have one.  ???

Got a call tonight at 7:35 from this number. She said calling from was Wachovia asking for my husband. I thought all the banks were closed on New Years day! There were lots of people talking in the background. It sounded like a party.

I "missed" a call from this number today.  I do not have a Wachovia account nor any credit cards issued by them.  No message was left on my phone, however.  Perhaps they are phishing.

This was for Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) my call was from Retirement Services... I do have a retirement plan with my job through Wells Fargo.

My Phone number 704-382-8697 is not a Fax number. I was thinking someone would figure that out by now. This has been going on for months now.

Someone called me and said they were Wells Fargo bank.  They said an unauthorized charge was made on my card.  When they asked for passwd and security code, I knew it was a fraud.  They even charged amost $100. from a gas station I never use.  Hang up when yuo get this number. It is fraud.  I don't know why people keep saying its Wachovia.

we have a experience like you ,guys dont give any  personal information to this person,we check online and somebody did many transaction in different places ,this is a fraud ,call the bank if you have any question or something ,this is scam they are looking for your information to make transatction to your account.

Rec'd a call on 01/18/2012 from this number: (704) 590-6161, caller I.D. listed "Wells Fargo Bank". No msg. left. Like another report below, I do have a 401(k) retirement plan with my job through Wells Fargo, so I am guessing it was a "customer service call" (i.e., sales call) about my 401(k) account.

This Wells Fargo Fraud Prevention calling me to verify some suspicious activity.

Wells Fargo calling me to confirm suspicious activity (someone using a duplicate of my card to buy gas in NY) and that they would discontinue the current card number I have and mail me a new one. But it would have the same PIN? They didn't ask for any information and I didn't provide any, but they knew about a few transactions I've made. Really sketchy. I looked up Charlotte Wells Fargo branches - none of them have the number from which I was called. I called the number back and got an automated voice saying it represented Wells Fargo and if I wanted to report misdirected faxes for investigation. Overall, a very suspicious thing.

Not fraud - they call you to tell you someone has your digits. They cancelled my card and reissued a card and did not ask for any personal information. They also took the bogus charges off my account. Answer the call they are trying to help you.

               Received a call from 704) 590-6161 claiming to be a rep from Wells Fargo. He asked if I had made 2 transactions that he gave a specific  dollar amount of. He gave no account number. I said yes and asked why he had called me. I've never received a call such as this.  He said it was because the purchases were in different locations (230 miles apart) and 2 days apart. I called Wells Fargo Fraud and they said they have no record of this number belonging to Wells Fargo Bank. I cancelled my card.          

I got a voicemail from this number. They said, "Hello. This is Wells Fargo Fraud Department calling to verify recent activity on your credit card ending in [XXXX]. Please return our call at 877-515-5750. You can also call the number on the back of your card and request to be transferred to fraud prevention."  So I called the customer service number on my card and asked for the fraud department. It turned out that there was an attempted charge to my card for $605 at Victoria's Secret. Wells Fargo had recognized the signs of fraud and denied the charge. I said yes, it was a bogus charge, and thanked them for catching it. They killed that card and are sending me another.

You don't have to answer the call.  You don't have to call the number they give you.  Just call the customer service number on your card and ask for the fraud department. It's legitimate.
