Do not recognize this caller.

I received numerous calls from this number but didnt answer them because I didnt recognize the number but I just checked my voice mail and it was a call from an inmate at a state prison that I would have taken had I picked up the phone.

I answered a call from this number today and the machine that plays is saying that the call is from a prison inmate.

This number is supposed to be Global Tel Link the provider for California State Prisons.

i got called from this number today and dayumn I was scared!

Got call from this number today - says I need to add funds to account.  Dam* phishers.  Ruining our country.  Report this to FCC.

Got the same call, with the same message. First, the call from CA Prison System saying an inmate is calling us. It was a long message, punch this to answer, this to decline, on and on. Then an hour later a call came from another number, with a canned message saying we need to add funds to the account for the inmate. "Your phone provider does not cover these charges." Right! Unfortunately, some might fall for this.

Yep. Same. I didn't recognize the area code. But the voicemail I received was from an inmate I do know in a CA facility.

I got the call today was scared. Thanks to ur feed back. To know they r phony!

I have gotten numerous calls from this number. Same message of being a collect call from a state prison. Hung up and they called me back numerous times.

Received a call from this number. My message recorder said it from High Desert Prison in Susanville, CA.
The recording said it was "John". I don't know anyone like this.
Also left message to call global Tellink (866) 230-7761 if I wanted to return the call.
I didn't. Better to leave these calls alone.
Prisoners have all day to mess with your mind.

Hi all. If like me, you are unfortunate enough to have a loved one or family member in prison, you might want to answer this call. Like most of you I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number. Once I googled it and came across this page, I realized that I know who it was trying to call.

Prisoners through California Department of Corrections have to make collect calls through Global Tell Link. There has to be money on the account in order for the call to go through. If you call back this number, there is a recording that will give you a number to call back and set up an account. If you want to hear from your loved one, that's the only way. If you go to this link on the CRC Website, you will see the company listed.

I got a call from this number on my cell. They called 7 times in a row, back to back. I didn't pick up and they called again (same number) in the afternoon. Again, I didn't pick up and my phone rang about 6 times as they  kept hanging up and calling. Blocked the number. I do have a cousin who's in prison but I don't talk to him, just to his dad. Could be him but I'm not picking up to find out.

I got a call from this number 713-568-6986 on 9/25/2013, didn't answer the call and the call went to VM saying "calling from California correction facility and trying to get hold of you, there is not enough money on your balance to conect the call, if any questions call 868-607-0606". when called the 868 number I got a recording from Verizon "this cell phone number has been disconected, please..."

Where is this call coming from had several attempts

"Should Have Answered"...I think it is a coincidence that you know someone in prison. I don't know anyone in prison, therefore adding money to any account that gives an inmate the funds to call my house...no thanks!!! Even if I did know someone, I would not pay for them to call me. It seems as though most of us have no one we know that would be unfortunate enough to be in prison. I say...its just another scam. Do yourself a favor... don't give them your credit card number people!!!

It keeps calling

The number is from GTL. They provide calls for inmates. This number appears every time my husband calls me from prison.

This is fraud.  I called my phone company and they blocked the number and filed a fraud report.  I don't know anyone in prison.

Don't worry..it is a pre paid service u put funds on an account to b able to accept collect calls now directly to any line.such as a cell phone...u add money as u go like a pre paid cell phone sortof n its cheaper than it used to be years ago....It's legit it's called Global Tel Link...inmate service for inmates in Kern Valley Prison n many others to b able to call their loved ones...it's really not a scam..I been using their service for over 1 yr now I think u are all not familiar with it or the whole inmate being n prison type life style....so u people think it's a scam....I promise it's safe n nor is it a scam.U may b able to call directly to any state prison to confirm this they r all familiar with Global Tel Link even the correctional officers....as far as people calling u dont know that may b true.....they have alot.of time on their hands.....n who knows makes me wonder if they randomly make calls b cuz it's a very lonely...lonely place to be n for most it's the human touch they miss when being inside prison...many went in as kids or juveniles who are grown men...whose life passed them by for a mistake made as a minor cost them a very expensive lesson learned...n lose memories of childhood....that should last a lifetime b cuz.of a decision made as a minor.....it's very lonely most inmates don't have family or any one to care for them...n yes....they do look for people who will take care of them in there n send them money to buy food in there.....so makes you wonder if they have the lonely inmates who randomly make calls to see if anyone will take the call to start conversation n make a new friend so they will b taken care of you would be surprised at what these guys think of while doing time in prison and most are very bright n intelligent people with alot of talent who just took the wrong path....it is a very legit number provided for inmates to communicate....you pay as u go....it's a great service
