This company is most definitely a debt collection agency.  A very deceptive one.  They buy debts that are more than likely legally too old to collect on at a small fraction of the original debt.  Then they add all these collection fees and costs onto it and threaten people into paying.  They have literally called me back to back eight times.  I hung up the first time, and he called back seven times, right in a row, with no voicemail or anything.  And they are calling my cell phone, not my home phone. Most of the time, the information they are buying is so outdated, they don't even know who they are calling to badger.  Do not take abuse from these people.

Send a letter to the company (google national action financial services to get the address) and send it USPS with a return receipt.  In the letter, ask them to stop calling and start sending all correspondence by US mail.  By law, they have to comply.  Not doing so could mean government sanctions and lawsuits for them.  Remind them of that in the letter as well.

I recieved a call today from this number, the guy left a message expecting a return call TODAY!.Problem is I used to be a Collections Manager for National Action Financial Services over eight years ago!!!  I'm curious to know how they obtained my cell phone number, and i'm almost certain they were bought out by Sitel Corp, so i'm not sure how they're operating as NAFS, however the collectors' attempt to sound intimidating was amusing. I agree with Ms Carr, if the calls become harassing, send the "Cease & Desist" letter as instructed, they have to comply.  Most likely they're attempting to collect on accounts that have already been "charged off" by the creditor, therefore any money they collect will be solely profited by the company along with a significant bonus to the collector, thus explaining the aggression.  Don't fall for it!

A woman called me from this number & left a message to return a call to 800-443-2963 Ext. 2471.  She said that I had committed a serious violation and was in a lot if trouble if I did not call her back by 9:00pm tonight, but she did not say what company she was with or anything else.  I looked up the number & it is some type of collection agency, National Action Financial Services. I don't know why they are calling, but one thing for certain with threats like that, I will not call them back!

These folks have both my cell phone and my new house phone number of which they call back to back.  They have left messages on both phones and the last one sounded threatening.

I have received a similar call to those listed above from National Action Financial Services.  I let it go to voicemail and when I heard the message, it was so threatening and rude.  The guy, Mr. Hamilton, called me by name in the voicemail.  Good thing I looked it up before calling them back.  Now I know what I can do to stop the calls.  Thanks to those of you who have given some advice on what to do.

I have a question for those of you who may know- is it illegal for someone to buy a bad debt and add fees to it and sue you even though they were the third person to handle the account? I thought they couldn't just go around buying up old accounts and sueing, but someone in-state got ahold of my old Household account and sued us for it. I went to court to fight it because I was sure they couldn't get it or at least not all of it, but they won! The judge told me all they have to do is buy your account and sue you (even adding up loads of fees you never deserved) and win. What have you heard on this? Seems wrong to me.

Were you past the statue of limitations on that account?  If you were then the judge was wrong! I would appeal it or get a consumer attorney to fight it for you.

Lucklily mine are past the SOL and I just received a call from 716-650-6240 and will mail them a registered letter today to cease all calls or I will sue them.

What is the statute of limitations on these kinds of things?

    former collector
I used to work as a debt collector, and I was extremely frustrated in that capacity due to invalid or outdated information.  Plus, I never liked trying to get people to pay for something couldn't (or wouldn't).

But I did get a bit of insight on this subject.  SOL will vary widely depending on the state where the cause of action took place, and in most states it varies even further depending on the type of debt.

    For example:
    TX = simply 4 years

CA = 2 years for Oral agreements
4 years for written agreements beginning on day of breach
if a payment is made after the SOL, it stops the statute

Other states break it down even further, and some will go as high as 10-20 years for judgements or secured debt, such as mortgage... even on forclosures!

    Confused
David Zimmerman has called me twice from 716 650 6240 asking for my father-in-law (who used to live in this house) and saying that my father-in-law or his attorney should contact David Zimmerman at 866 529 1896.  When I asked what it was concerning he told me he wasn't able to tell me.  When I told him that I would pass on the message but I am sure my father-in-law wouldn't respond without knowing the reason for the call, he got a little huffy and said, "That's his choice."

A woman called on my cell phone stating that she was calling about a past due balance on my credit card.  (Don't know how she got my cell phone number.)  I told her that couldn't be correct because I pay my credit card bill in full every month.  She asked if there was anyone else in my family with the same name as me.  Then she asked if my social security # was ----.  I told her that was incorrect.  I then asked her what address she had listed; that was incorrect also.  She then apologized for the inconvenience and hung up.  When I tried calling the number back, a woman answered then hung up after I questioned her about the phone call to my cell phone.  I became concerned and called my credit card company who advised me to close my present account and is issuing me a new number.  I also called my cell phone company for advice.  I then went to my local police station and reported the incident.  When the officer went on line to google the area code to see where the call came from, this site came up with all the comments.  I will be calling the Better Business Bureau tomorrow about this "company".

I also have been called by this number multiple times.  Starting at the beginning of the month.  I finally answered the phone today and told the guy he had the wrong number (he asked for Leslie) He immediately told me "no I don't, stop lying!" and hung up. So I googled the number to see what it was and I called them back.  After three times of transferring me I finally got to someone from the actual company.  The guy I talked to asked me some questions and I explained the situation and how Leslie has never lived here nor do I know of one. He told me they would not call back but we will see if they hold true to that.  He ended the conversation by telling me "I just like to waste people's time"  I should have told him before he hung up that that is fine by me, I have no job and I'm not in school for the summer... I have all the time in the world to waste
