Received a call from this number asking specifically for a friend of mine.

I recommend that you don’t even pick up the phone and talk to them.  We can send the Cease and Desist Letter to them.
If you happen to answer the phone, FIRST ask them for their address.  Don’t validate that you owe any debt.  Don’t offer any additional information.  If they don’t offer you their address, then tell them you have contacted an attorney and have been informed that their address is 4244 Ridge Lea Rd. Ste 6, Amherst, NY 14226 and that your attorney has instructed you to tell them that they were mailed a Cease and Desist letter and that they are in violation of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and that you have a log to write down every contact they make with you from here on out.  Tell them your attorney is going to file a complaint with the FTC regarding their illegal acts and will also file for sanctions if they do not comply immediately.
They should hang up on you at that point

They've repeatedly called both myself and my daughter and say they're lawyers collecting a debt for a pay day loan I had taken out. They have threatened me with arresst. Can they actually have me arressted or are they lying to me?

I was just harrassed by a representative of this company..  Think it's a debt collector, but called me looking for my older brother whom I haven't seen in years.  Don't even know where he is..  When I told the rep that, he kept trying to get a tn out of me for him.  When I asked for his supervisor he laughed at me and when his supervisor (ya right) got on the phone his name was Mr Buster, he defended the rep and wanted to know why I was so upset about his re laughing at me..  When I asked for his boss, he hung up on me..

Just hangs up but sooner or later I'll catch'm and cuss'em out good and proper. I'm not a safe individual to play games with of this nature. I WILL hurt them.

Keep the message, take it and any repeats down to the police station and ask them to have him picked up. If he lives out of state, too bad. It'll be a FELONY warrant that goes out.

You can also report this to the FCC. I have.

I live in WYOMING, not NY. I don't have any loans out so I'm not sure why they're calling me or how they got my cell's number to start with. I just reported them to the FCC and filed some paperwork on them at my local copshop. I don't believe in warning perps.

this guy keeps calling threatening me and calling my daughter. the thing he is saying is not true. this person has called and used two differnt names joseph wells and joseph kennedy from 3 different phone numbers 716-831-9041, 716-242-8356, 716-242-8367.

Joseph wells called, he is bogus claimed owing a payday loan debt, has been calling for a couple of weeks this dude is no attorney and his.collections efforts blow, didn't even advise it was an attempt to collect a debt etc, do better "Joseph" how do you sleep at night knowing u make a living off getting over and trying to get over on people!

This guy Joseph called my work on one of my co-workers phones and says he's a lawyer and that I wrote a bad check but doesnt say for what and that his client is seeking his services to collect or they will seek legal action! Who the hell does that! No real professional would leave a message like that on someones place of employment! He is full of $hit! Report his a$$ to the police!

this number keeps calling me too! 716-242-8356 716-831-9041 ..A guy naned Joseph calls and threatens me with a lawsuit! How can you stop this guy from harrassment?! He has called my job as well!
